ONE YEAR BG DESIGN CHALLENGE 2

ONE YEAR BG DESIGN CHALLENGE - CAPTAINS LOG ENTRY 2

OFF THE SHORE

The sea is on my side during the first couple of days. Its turquoise color sooths my worries about the journey. I have counted the barrels of food and water and it is certain that somewhere on the journey I have to find a small port to refill the stock.

If you have not read my first blog post you probably do not understand the analogy between the journey and the board game design challenge. You can find the link to the first blog post here.

I am super excited that I have people following my blog and forum posts. *He nods his heads towards - let-off studios, Adam Leamey, Rick L*. Thank you so much.

Today I have made a couple of pictures of the ZELVE prototype. So that you can see the table-top presence. As I am the father of the baby, it looks beautiful to me. Like I said in my previous post, please challenge me and give your input to improve the game.

TABLE TOP PRESENCE PICTURE

The setup is for 2 players. Each player has her own starting board. The board is inspired from IMPERIAL SETTLERS and 51st STATE. You build your village on the right and the left hand side of the board.

PLAYER BOARD PICTURE

Right hand side is dedicated to your CAVE area and left hand side is dedicated to the OUTDOOR buildings. Top of the card is the CITY where you can interact with the fellow CITIZENS and bottom of the board represents the UNDERGROUND MAZE area.

Now I have to explain why these four distinct part exist and I have to link it to the history of Cappadocia and Zelve.

---

Between 9th to 13th century Christians were living in the Cappadocia area. And they were the inhabitants of Zelve. They were trying to have a peaceful life and expand their believes. But life was not that easy at those times. (Probably still very hard today as well for lots of people). Their lives were at danger at all times. That is why they were living away from the main cities and have built a life within the caves. And even caves were not providing enough shelter when there were raiders. That is why they have built kilometers long underground mazes.

So probably now you make the link between the four major parts of the player board and the history of the area.

I will talk about the workers below the indoor and outdoor buildings on the next post.

Till that time, please send your feedback to me …

*He see that a grey shadow is following the boat, at first he does not care too much. He thinks probably a dolphin is chasing the boat like yesterday. But this is not a dolphin and has an odd shape*
