Game boxes/tubes: Where to get printed and made?

Well, I've been running into a lot of walls lately, and here's another one... where to get boxes made. So far, the decesion is to have canvas maps printed instead of game boards, so I will need a tube that can fit all of the game components in, as well as having some graphics along the side. What's your advice on this? Where can I buy tubes? Who could print on them? Should I print stickers and apply them myself? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

For your information, the tube will need to be about 20" in height, I don't care how much the width is, it just needs to fit some wooden components, some dice, a pack of cards, the rules, and the canvas map. I know this sounds ambitious for a self-published game, but we'll see if I can finish it in time for June.

Thank you for your advice!

Use one big sticker to wrap

Use one big sticker to wrap arround the whole tube? a local print shop can help you with that.

I kinda like that idea

I kinda like that idea, but where do I get the blank tubes? This is still the big question. Also, the other thing I like about tubes is that I won't have to shrinkwrap them!

Okay, it's not hard

Okay, it's not hard to find tube sellers, but what company do you think would be the best to have labels printed? What do you think is best, a label that covers all or part of the tube? What would be the most appealing to gamers?

Thanks for your help!

Lucas, That company prints

Lucas,

That company prints the tubes and will do custom made. Might be expensive though.

Boxes

Hi again.

I'm spanish. What is the english term for a hard box (not folded) like the carcassonne one? 'Hard box'?

Thank you.

half-sized labels

Just a knee-jerk answer, but I'd say go with a label that only covers half of the circumference, and most of the height of tube (assuming a clear plastic tube.)
The half-label would have 2 benefits. Easy alignment reduces the danger of putting out an obviously flawed product. And the transparent part of the tube gives buyers a sneek-peek at the goods. If the components inside look nice, that might help to sell the game. (but if your components stink, it would be a turn off.
That's a big advantage/drawback of a tube over an opaque box (depending on your point of view.)

Most games these days are packaged in ridged telescoping boxes. I think that's what your talking about.

ridged telescoping boxes

Thank you, Dralius :)

For those interested, I've just found a full colour ridged telescoping boxes manufacturer here in Spain that has a minimum print run of 100! And they are quite cheap!

I'm receiving a sample next week. I'll tell you about it.

I believe you mean "rigid" rather than "ridged."
