So I had my first chance to try out my game TRAPPED!
First of all, let me explain the game.
There are 3 dungeon masters (we've taken to calling them trapmasters) trying to capture our hero (4th player) The hero has a small deck with items he can use (shield to nulify damage, sword to kill a monster) as well as escape cards that he plays to beat the certain traps (intelligence, strength, will luck, and dex).
The trapmasters lay their dungeons facedown as well as their minions face up. The benefit being that even though you know what can beat the minion, he has the ability to move, so he can chase our hero around the board trying to get him in position for the deadly traps. the trapmasters also have an arsenal of actions (just like the hero has an arsenal of weapons) to use on each other. They can destroy each other's dungeons, change dungeons with someone else, save the hero from someone elses dungeon, and pull the hero onto their own lane.
The traps are layed facedown with a maximum of 6 +the trapmaster across, the hero gest t o move once a turn, and if he successfully defeats the trap or a monster he gets another action.
the playtest went spledidly and I'm really excited to get this out there to more people. If anyone wants to playtest this, let me know so I can put it online and make it available to you.
Also, I'm working on my bluff-type superhero game.
I mentioned more about it in the new game ideas forum if you are interested in looking.
lastly, I started working on a board game im most excited about.
I call it EMPIRE:THROUGH THE AGES. its a little bit of a euro-game inspired by the old Age of Empires and agricola
players start out in the very corner of a hexagon board, they expand by flipping tiles face up. Players are trying to gather resources, (wood, food, gold and stone) to build new building as well as upgrades. Gold lets people buy blueprints so they can build new buildings, as well as upgrades. Players can sell each other the rights to use the blueprints. Let.s say i have the barracks, that let me pay a certain amount to take out someone's workers, and someone else wants the barracks t o, i can say, give me 5 gold or the blueprints to your market and you can use my blueprint to build your barracks. this is important since the only way to earn VP is to expand your buildings. resources and workers do not count for points.
So everyone goes through the building phase, 1 building can be build per hex, hopefully pushing people towards the point where either they can build more and expand, but at the cost of their resources.
The 3 ages of the game are played thorugh in a format similar to Agricola. There will be 6 cards for the dark age, then 4 for the bronze age and 2 for the iron age. All of these are upgrades you can buy with your gold that will give you a very distinct advantage. Like, mining picks that let your workers count for 2 whenever on a stone/gold tile.
I think it's a strong idea and with the right execution it could be a lot of fun. Let me know what you guys think, if you see any loopholes i might be missing.
