Shared Pieces Design Competition Redux - No Answer

Two months ago my game, Golem, was announced as the winner of the 2004 Shared Pieces Design Competition.

The official story is here: http://boardgames.about.com/b/a/095272.htm#more

Since then, I have heard nothing about the purported efforts to have the game sold, I have not received a trophy, and I have received no indication that I have received a subscription to Abstract Games magazine.

More troubling, my two e-mails to Erik Arneson have received no response.

Frankly, none of the other stuff concerns me much, except that I had held of doing much in the way of trying to sell the game myself until I heard something.

Any thoughts on what I should do? Anyone know Erik and can get him to acknowledge my existence?

Erik posts to the yahoo spielfreaks group daily. If you posted a similar request there, it would almost guarantee you a response within a day. However, you might want to tone it down just a bit (not to say that you are justified in your frustration, just try not to embarass him too much) as Erik is a highly respected member of that community.

Here is the link for Spielfreaks:

Thanks for the reply. The spielfreaks link takes me to a page that says I have to be a member of the group, and I can't locate the link to request membership.

I guess my first post came off a little snarky. That was not my intention. (Forum posting is, after all, an imperfect medium.) I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation. I just feel like I'm out of ideas on how to proceed.

Yeah, joining Spielfrieks is a pain since they accidentally closed the list (and Yahoo won't reopen it).

What's the domain name of the address you've used to contact Erik (don't post the full address here to avoid spamming)? I might have a different address.

I just replied to the e-mail he sent me advising me that I won.

The e-mail address was: boardgames.guide@[the about website domain]

If you do find anything out, please post back here. I was hoping to find out if there was anything about my entry published in the magazine (and buy a copy or two if there is), but I haven't even been able to find evidence the magazine exists.

I asked at a few book stores, and non of them have any record of it existing so they can even check if they can order it.

I sent him an email this morning about your situation using a different address. I'll send you a PM with that address and hope that it helps.

Re: Shared Pieces competition

Hi Justin,

I just sent you an email. Sincere apologies for my slow response -- this summer has been crazy in terms of travel and work. After you get the email, please let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks also to Matthew F. for reminding me that I owed you an email!

Cheers,
Erik
