Inspired by a post on reddit's r/boardgames about properties or ideas that people wanted to see games made of, I started playing around with ideas for a game about robots fighting monsters. It's really just an barely fleshed outline at this point, but if you ladies and gentlemen want to check it out I would appreciate it
Any feedback about my early stage giant robots vs. monsters game?
Very unique idea. Doesn't seem too complicated, although, when monsters survive a round try become stronger but wouldn't this just create an exponential growth of power? If you don't kill it in the current round, what makes you think you can kill a stronger one next round? Or is there a mechanic that I'm missing?
Inteeeeeerrrressssting... ;)
Sounds pretty neat! Now will this game allow you to buy like a mister expansion pack or a robot expansion? It would be cool to have different monsters that don't come with the original game.
Also it would be cool to have different types of monsters
For example:
Swamp/water monsters
Flying monsters
Elemental monsters (fire, earth etc.)
Mech monsters (monsters with bionic instruments)
Or monsters that can spawn smaller monsters
There's a lot of things you can do with this game and I can see where you've derived your passion from! Abstract theme but it's interesting and fun :)
I haven't worked out the details of how monster cards are drawn each turn, but how I imagine it working is that, at the beginning of the game at least, there will more low level monsters appearing each turn than players can destroy. As the game progresses and players upgrade they should be able to defeat even fully mutated tier I monsters easily. There will also be a bonus associated with defeating mutated monsters (extra VP or free resources, tbd), so players may actually choose NOT to defeat monsters in order to get the rewards later. Balancing monsters' spawn rate and players' upgrades is still on my "to do" list.
