I am working on a game which includes photos of cars. The photos were taken from Craigslist listings or by myself in public. Since the game will reference Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, and other cars, do I need to have permission from the automakers before I copyright the game? If so, how does a person go about getting permission from each automaker?

My guess would be their corporate web site for starters. There may also be trademarks to consider.

NOT a lawyer, but...
I think logos are almost certainly copyrighted. You can probably mention Ford, Chevy, and Pontiac but I think if you show the logos and don't have the proper permissions you could get in trouble.
