Anyone here have experience with German distribution?
I'm not positive it's required for the Kinderspiel des Jahre award, but I thought I might try to make myself eligible for that.. My game has several written components (rule book, campaign, reference cards), but no actual playing cards, so I believe I can translate those items and make them available online and meet the criteria.
If anyone has experience with the Spiel des Jahre in general, any insight there would also be appreciated :)
I'm not 100% sure my Heroes & Treasure title qualifies, just because of the RPG elements, and it doesn't seem to line up cleanly with previous winning titles..
Having a German rulebook available online doesn't fulfil the formal criteria.
The best way is probably to find a big German publisher for a localized German version of the game.
Yeah, it looks like that might be the case, even though the rules don't QUITE say that. It's also not QUITE clear whether you need to literally have a German distributor, or are just selling into the German market (which I already am, by mail)
I'm not looking to make a German box for retail, so I think the longshot entry here is probably going to stay in the Impossible Dream category.
Thanks.
If at some point I get big enough to be able to afford to make a full German run of something, I'd try at that point. Maybe my Arena card game in a year or two :)
