Pitch?

When contacting publishers, is it a good idea to pitch them your idea with a hook, or is it better to give them a very straight description?

For instance, let's say the publisher's website says it accepts submissions via email, and asks that you include a description on how the game works. Which would be better:

a) Order up! It's lunch time, and the restaurant is packed with customers! It is up to you to make sure everyone gets their meal! Gather sets of ingredients, follow the recipes, and cook your dishes as quickly as possible! Earn points for each customer served.

b) You pay as the head cook of a restaurant. Collect sets of cards that represent food items. Use recipe cards to combine your food cards together to make dishes. Score points for the most dishes you are able to complete.

Obviously one has more flash, and the other gets right to the point. Do these publishers want to be hooked with something like option a? Or would they rather you just get to the point? Or maybe a combination of the two?

I'm no publisher, but...

I love the first one. It grabbed my attention and made me want to try it out.

The second one did not.

If I am the publisher

I would choose option A. I want to hear what the game is about that grabs the attention to sell this game product. If in another space that asks for greater detail about the game, than give that description.
