Hey everyone!
Our board games studio working on our first game now and we're going to launch the KS campaign this winter.
Our game named "For Treasures!" and is a jolly and dynamic game in the genre of dungeon crawler intended for 2 - 4 players. It is a highly competitive game with wide variability.
We are very interested in the retail theme.
Found a lot of information that it better to take care of this before the launch of the campaign.
How to sell the game through retail? What works and what doesn't? Where to begin?
Will be very grateful if you share with us your experience and some advice concerning this topic.
We need your help! Retail theme
Out of my area of expertise so far, but.. are you looking to go through a distributor, or are you going to try to sell directly to stores.
Obviously the second one is a lot of work, and some stores will only buy through a distributor.
The first one involves, I believe, giving the distributor a 70% discount off of retail. Hard to do that on 1000-MOQ pricing.
Just a clarification... do you mean the retail channel?
Retail theme would mean a game about shopping or running a store.
Retail channel would mean selling your game in retail stores (game/comic stores, toy stores, department stores).
I hope so, because a dungeon crawler about shopping called "For Treasure!" would be really weird :)
I was thinking they were asking what theme would be good to go with in order to have retail success. To which I would say there's no answer. If it's a good game, the theme won't matter.
Thank you a lot for the replies!
Yes, we probably have formulated the question incorrectly.
We meant the retail channel. :)
