Hi folks, just want to share with you our blog about advice on creating, kickstarting, and fulfilling your own dream game: The Kickstarter Advice Columns.

Rather than mini blog entries that lightly discuss a topic; we focus on complete entries that fully flush out or teach a topic.

Here's just 2 of our most popular entries:
#1 - How to make a Budget for Kickstarting a Board Game.
http://www.gatekeepergaming.com/article-7-budgets/

#2 - Demystifying Game Components - What's what!?
http://www.gatekeepergaming.com/article-11-demystifying-game-components/

No catch, no sales, not even banner ads. Just advice from experience.

Kindness to all,

What successful Kickstarters have you guys run? I'm not familiar with your company.

Great blog

Thanks. I found several interesting articles on your blog :). Some subjects could use a broader perspective though.

We ran:

The King's Armory

and Halfsies Dice.

I'm ...proud..? to say that we also failed our very first kickstarter and came back to have these successful ones (lots learned there). We also ran an IndieGoGo Campaign. Jamey Stegmaier discusses our experience in the first chapter of his book. A great relationship we have actually: I'm in his book, and he sits on my panels at GenCon.

This is what community is about. Helping each other out, and not asking anything in return for it.

looking again

It was nothing specific really. I think you have lots of great inputs - it just seem very b/W on/off. Like for example when you talk about when to quit or not quit a KS (personlly I don't have any experience). You make it sound like there is only one right thing to do if you got xx backers on xx time.

But looking though your blog again - It was not that big a deal as I first felt.

Gotcha

Ah, gotcha.

Thanks for taking a further look and seeing that.

For us, when hard *splash of water in the face* advice is needed, that's what we try to give. When "hey you just need to know your options" advice is needed, that's what we try to give.

Examples:
#1) Budgets? "DO IT!!!!!"
#2) What kinds of card stock should I use? "Here's your options."

Please try again... I just tested an e-mail and it works. Please use "questccg[AT]hotmail[DOT]com". If it's an attachment issue, well at least there should be a reason for the errror.

Thanks.

Great articles

KeeperoftheGate,

Along with what I've read by James Mathe and Jamey Stegmaier, these are a series of must-read articles for anyone attempting to either run a Kickstarter campaign simply want to produce their game in a professional manner. While I wish that I had this available to me when I started, there's something to be said for failing the first time and having the opportunity to learn so many facets of running a business.

Anyway, great series of articles!

Cheers,
Joe

I second that .. this is a must read series.

Reading through KeeperoftheGate's blog, James Mathe and Stonemaier Game's advice takes a LOT, but it's completely worth the time and effort if you're even considering crowdfunding.
