Hello all!
I've been signed up with and following discussions on bgdf for about 2 years. I didn't introduce myself immediately because I was in the middle of writing up the rules of an age of sail tactics game I had developed with my dad. I thought I'd finish the rules first...
...it can take a long time to write your first Rules, can't it!?
Anyway, it was a good thing that it took so long to write them, because it was during that time that I finally realised/ recognised/ accepted that the game was a 40 minute game that was always fun for only 20 minutes. I made big changes and now it's a 20 minute game that we usually want to play 2 or 3 times of an evening. So big improvement and important lessons learnt - not least of which, the issue of why it took me so long to face up to the problem in the first place!
My project now is a Muay Thai card game, since my wife and I both like card games...and Muay Thai. In the near future, I'd be very grateful for advice on this one as I feel like I'm probably spending a lot of time reinventing wheels...
For now, let me just thank you all for the interesting and informative content I have enjoyed so far.
Tim
Hi Adam, and thanks for your generous offer of help. I will be delighted to take you up on it! I will try to put my current ideas into a readable (if not actually coherent) form soon.
