Hello BGDF:
I am an big fan of board games, stemming from my trips in childhood through adulthood to visit family in Germany. This explains why my game shelf is full of German language Puerto Rico, Carcassone, etc. We played everything on those summer visits, all of them the pre-cursers to today's growing interest in intelligently designed games with quality components.
I also run an after school class at my son's school where we learn and play these type of games.
I had a seed of an idea recently for a game design, and have started to work out some interesting (perhaps) details and mechanics of it. So, I stumbled upon this site, and it looked like just the place to read and post to.
When I have a decent draft of my game description, I will be sure to post it for feedback.
Thanks for being here!

Its a bit lucky really. My son goes to an independent school, not part of a public school (although I am a public school teacher.)
So, I run the club in exchange for his participation in the after-school program twice a week. It works out well for both the school and our family. It is a small school (100 students K-8 or so), so it is easy to work with.
If you were interested in working with a public school, bigger ones will have a community outreach type of staff member. You will probably need to go through some background check and verification. Some schools pay for their extra-curricular leaders, but you may want to offer to volunteer at first, to gauge the student interest. Schools probably already have their budgets set for this sort of thing.
Hope that helps!
