Just wanted to take a quick opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jeffrey Brunner and I have just recently embarked on my maiden voyage design journey after being encouraged by close ones to do so. My wife and business partner, Jennifer Brunner, and I formed an LLC under my user name, GrimKnightGames for the purposes of bringing instruction in boardgaming to mainly young people. It also serves as our business platform for developing my designs. I will be attending Origins and possibly Gen Con this year to make my first pitch for a trick taking game called Recount. Whatever happens will be beneficial as I have no unrealistic expectations just a willingness to grow as a designer after the experience. I look forward to participating with fellow game designers on this site and wish the rest of you the best of luck in your ventures.

Sounds like you have a firm grasp on things and I wish you luck with your designs and I hope you enjoy the Cons... I wish/hope to some day be able to get out to some of them as well.
Expectation management is the number one "killer" of board game designers, so I am glad to hear you are past that part of things.
Things get better and better after you have the right expectations!
