Hey people of BGDF!

I'm new to this website and to board game design, but I love playing boardgames, and am looking to challenge myself. I have already found so much helpful and thought provoking information by lurking in the forums and journals, and hopefully I will have a couple designs come along to where I can share my own stuff!

Super new at this, looking forward to failing and learning. I'm trying to force a couple ideas I have into some semblance of a game, and have been amazed at how difficult sketching the initial concept can be!

Aside from game design and playing, I'm into the arts and work as a dancer and ceramicist. Any other sculptors out there?

Looking forward to getting into it.

Welcome to the forum

When designing any game or any project. Don't force your self to hard. No reason for that. Relax and take your time. The ideas, concepts, and the material your looking for will be there whenyou need them. Research your idea. Check out other games that are on the market or rpg.net or board game geek or here on bgdf or at gamedev.net or on kickstarter. There are many other sites.

Inspiration is every where. Even your own occupation. And in reality, its not difficult to start up and sketch an initial concept.

Think inside and outside the box or virtual box.

As you design or create your game, your the director, producer, artist, creator, writer, editor.

Take the journey or the destination route in game designing. Its up to you. No one knows the way of your game than you do. Everything else is just guidelines. No need to rush your game out the door. When a game mechanic does not work. This is not a fail. The idea just needs to be pulled apart and fixed again and again until your satisfied by the game mechanic or concept fits with the idea or concept your working on.

Welcome once again.

Stormy.
