Hi all,

i am a new member to the site, and only really came across this site by chance. I wouldnt say i am that experienced in board games, as i only recently strayed from the more mainstream games.

The reason i ended up here is because as a child i remember playing on my playstation, throwing in Final Fantasy 8 and losing myself whilst playing a mini game included in it called Triple Triad. I loved the concept of it, and i loved the card collection aspect. I have to this day been wanting to find a physical copy of this game.

There are a few new things that seem to have some similarities, however they just dont quite hit the mark for me, so i thought, if i cant buy it, why not try to build it.

Basic concept is a card game, 2 player, on a grid layout. Each edge of a card has an attack value, you place it next to an opponents card and the higher value wins. (obviously there is a bit more too it than that)

What i would really love to do is to design a game that has all these main principles but adds in a few more concepts, the spells/actions/instants from TCG's such as MTG, and i love the clear plastic attribute altering cards from Gloom. So hopefully by being on here i can grab some influence off of some of your wise minds, and come up with something that really hits the nail on the head. :)

look forward to hearing from people

Mark

Well, that makes me feel old. As a kid, I remember when other kids were getting Final Fantasy 1 for the NES, but I was too busy playing Ultima 4 on my Commodore 64.

Me Too

I loved that game as well! FF8 was the best of them all.

Level 99 Games published a game called SellSwords that is VERY similar in concept and frankly, beat me to it. *grr Brad Grr*. ; )

You should check it out.

I have to say i was always

I have to say i was always more of a FFVii person myself, i was a sucker for the over the top weapons (Buster Sword always a fav) but the mini game trumped it all for me.

I have had a look at SellSwords, and it is very similar in play style, i think the thing for me is looking to create a version similar in play style, but with some modern thinking behind it, adding in some TCG elements. But also i'd love some great Final Fantasy-esq fantasy artwork on the cards. Although as this is mostly a hobby at the moment budget is limited to say the least lol.

If your also interested in that style of game after my extensive research (googling like mad for many weeks) i also came across a kickstarter game called Immortal, and Lords of War is another similar in concept game.

If anyone has some ideas, suggestions as to how to modernise it i'm more than willing to listen :)

Some things to remember...

I am also in the process of "converting" a Video Game into a TableTop Game. "Crystal Heroes" was supposed to be originally a Nintendo DS game. But then Nintendo launched the 3DS and that ruined all of those plans. So I thought maybe I can make the game into an Android Game. But the the cost of developing such a app was too costly and I could not invest my own time in making it happen.

Fast-forward to TODAY, and well it's now going to be a Card Game. Semi-collectible, something like an LCG (FFG). Taking what was cool in the Video Game and making it into a Card Game was supposed to be obvious. But I find myself needing to CHANGE the game to appeal to Card Game players.

Anyways all that to say is that the game may be good in FF, but it may need *tweaking* or modification to make a GOOD card game.
