Tahiti has arrived

My personal copies along with about 100 Box tops I need to sign and return to minion games arrived Saturday evening. I’m very happy with it. The box is efficiently small but with a great deal of heft. You know when you pick it up that you’re not buying air. The quality of the materials is top notch. Our distributer is filling orders, the games should be in stores very soon.

Did I say I’m very happy with it!

Approached by broker

Last week I was approached by Games Play UK. They asked if I would be interested in having them represent my game Cannon in an attempt to get it into a big publishing house like Hasbro, Mattel, or Spin Master. They required that I send the rules, pictures of the game and a play overview which I did and they said they would review the game and make a decision in a few weeks.

First in a long time

I have entered Buka & Back in the KGB game design Challenge

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/858053/2012-kbg-design-contest-card-games

This is the first contest I have entered in a long time. Usually I miss the deadline because I can’t get the game ready in time. Fortunately Buka & Back has been ready for submission for some time and only took a little rules tweaking to get it ready.

There are several prizes
First Place $1000
Second Place $400
Third Place $200

And the possibility of licensing the game to them. We could all use a little $ and getting the games published is the ultimate goal.

One Last Push

With only 10 days remaining in the kickstarter campaign

Minion games has decided to run a contest for Tahiti at board game geek to see if we can boost pledging and make one or more of the stretch goals.

It’s free to enter so why not sign up.

Tahiti Kickstarter

Seems like it took forever to get it ready but the Tahiti Kickstarter campaign has started!

I’ve been Tanga’ed

http://www.tanga.com/deals/nitro-dice-the-card-game

Some people have told me that putting your product up on Tanga is a good way to get exposure. I have always felt like Tanga was a dumping ground for slow moving product.

We will see if this leads to a boost in sales beyond Tanga or just as a way for Minion Games to free up some warehouse space.

First glimpse

We are finalizing the development for my pick up and deliver game Tahiti. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/118776/tahiti

I found out this weekend that a friend was hired to do the final rules edit, which is cool because not only is he a friend but he is an award winning rules writer. Yes they do give awards for that.

Going Back, Moving forward

Over the past 8 years that I have been seriously pursuing a career in game design I have found publishers for my abstract , family, children’s, party, and euro style games. What’s funny is I haven’t done one of my favorite types, the Dungeon Crawl. Back in the 80’s my friends and I played any we could find being DnD fiends. I still enjoy them today but rarely get to play one.

After all these years I’m finally getting around to it, but not just one, I am doing two at the same time. Why two? Coincidently there are two reasons for this.
