I really love good card games, and I don't know why. Maybe it's the simplicity most card games have, or the multiple ways cards can be used. I enjoy holding a hand of cards more then seeing my pawns dominate the board.
This means of course, that i my games cards are a dominant factor. I always try to figure out new and original way to draft and use cards, but I normally fail.
Recently I gave it a different approach. I made a list of things that the drafting had to accomplish:
- Balance the choices
- Player interaction
- Tactical choices
I figured out another mechanic that had all these things: Auctions...
Now I wonder whether auction drafting could be a good mechanic or not. I don't know if any other games combine these mechanics. I would like your opinion on this matter.
