www.variantchess.org claims that there are only two lattice arrays: rectilinear eg. Chessboards, and triangular eg. hexagonal chessboards. The regular hexagons from three cells per side upwards have been classified as roseboards and they are named by the notation of the centre cell eg. c3, d4, e5, f6 etc.. The f6 roseboard is the best for hexagonal chess games like Rose Chess and its variants.
Q1: Are there any other lattice arrays?
Q2: Is Rose Chess more similar to Western Chess than Hexagonal Chess (Glinski-type) played from a corner?
Q3: Is Rose Notation valid - see website above Home page.
