Hello fellow Designers,
I am new to the forums and wanted to give a brief background on myself before eliciting (or soliciting) any advice.
I have been an avid gamer for over 20 years, having really delved into the board gaming world within the last 3 or 4 (thanks to sites like thedicetower.com). I currently own close to 100 games and have played close to 300. I have around 7 or 8 ideas for boardgames (in various stages of design) that I would like to get published. My current design focus is roughly 98% playtested using card stock printouts and pieces scavenged from other games.
My main goal here is to learn how to get my games into production. I am very much interested in making connections that will help enhance my designing skills and (hopefully) get to share my experiences in design. I have bounced around the community but have never really gotten involved (having not necessarily had good experiences on certain mini gaming forums). I am interested in getting to know other designers and learn from their successes and mistakes and (again) improve the odds of seeing my designs on a shelf in my local (B&M... and online, too)!
Personally, I am married with 2 daughters (2 1/2 yrs and 2 mos, respectively) and currently employed as a project analyst.
In my designs, I always try to focus on: Player interactions in a game (In my opinion, you're with friends, you shouldn't have to play solitaire).
Favorite game of all time: Twilight Imperium, for the sheer epic scale and range of options.
Will always play: Anything.
Favorite genre: Worker Placement.
Least favorite played recently: Air Baron (The dice combat felt very out of place compared to the rest of the game design).
