Quest Adventure Cards(tm) - The Second Edition

So it's been months of playing around with various game ideas and game mechanics. It almost feels like an entire year! We have made a complete overhaul of Quest. The First Edition, with all it's quirks and oddities, is soon to be a matter of the past.

The Second Edition of Quest AC is rather elegant...

We listened to our players and we hope to come out with a more solid product. So here is what is new:

1. An open card game system: Players no longer require quest cards to put cards into play. Instead players rely on a simple mechanic. Since this game is called "Quest", well the goal remains to complete quests.

A quest can be completed by having a Hero*, a Monster* and a Treasure*.

The rules go as follow: a Hero* must be stronger than the Monster* (score points). If he is not, he may equip an Item to increase his strength. The Monster* must be able to carry the Treasure* with him. If he cannot, he can have a Lair. This Lair can accomodate both the required Treasure* and a Character.

Here is an example: The Champion (6 score points) defeats the Troll (5 points) who is carrying the Silver Locket (4 points). Champion (6 pts) > Troll (5 pts) > Locket (4 pts). That is a sample 3 card quest minimum required for a completed quest.

A full quest can have: a Hero*, his Item, the Monster*, his Lair, a Treasure* and lastly a Character. The Hero*, Monster* and Treasure* are required elements and the Item, Lair and Character are optional elements.

2. The number of quests for victory is now standard. It is now required to complete 3 quests to win.

3. No more stalemates. If the end of the Draw pile is reached before the 3 quests are complete, the winner is determined by score points.

4. The treasury gets out of hand, players just dump their cards in it. Now you cannot place cards into the Treasury. You must accomplish challenges (Events) which award a player with Tribute cards that are placed into the Treasury.

5. No more booster packs, the Second Edition will be a "boxed" edition with 10 different quest sets. This was a real no brainer, most individuals who bought the First Edition wanted complete sets...

6. Number of booster packs required to play varied per the number of players. The Second Edition requires 10 sets for a 2 player, 3 player or 4 player game. This also is now standard.

There are also some game quirks in the First Edition which have been corrected and eliminated.

Remember you heard it first on BGDF!!!
