Hi there
I'm a newbie to this forum (which on my initial look through is a great one by the way).
I'm developing a game at the moment which has a strong theme/back story element. (It would suit an animated series - the game is aimed at 10yrs+)
My question is, does anyone have any experience with selling intellectual property rights?
I'm not bothered so much about a discussion about protecting your ideas and copyright issues as I've done quite a bit of research and have had a number of 'free' conversations with copyright Lawyers about 'standard' protection.
What I'd like to hear is any experiences you guys may have had with selling the rights to your 'stories/characters' to put your creations into different media (e.g. porting the game to video game industry, fashion, books, animated series etc.). Any successes, failures, unexpected difficulties etc.
By way of a bit of backgound I'm a graphic designer and illustrator (work for myself) and, many moons ago (92-94), I used to work for Games Workshop. I was employed as a production monkey (making it look nice) but also had a stint as a playtester - had a few of my game mechanic recommendations make it into print too (woo hoo!).
Cheers

Welcome! Sorry that I don't have the information you're looking for, but your introductory post does sound as though you have quite a bit of knowledge of the game design and production processes.
Sounds like you may have some knowledge that would be of great interest here! There have been many threads with questions about copyright and other forms of protection.
Congratulations!! I for one look forward towards learning from your experience.
