I just have questions about a game known as Heroscape. And a fwe more questions that can help with my very own game.

Iv beeen seeing some really cool Images on the Hex Landscapes some people have made, and was wondering if they made these stuff with just 1 set of Heroscape. Or more then one Set. I am planning on getting one set soon, and hoping i can make some really unique settting with them.

I just have some pictures on Boardgamegeeks and would like to know how many sets they bought to make them!

I will list them, my 1,2,3,4 and stuff, and plz let me know, which is what. 1 set, 2 sets. 3 or alot more! Thanks alot!

Question 2
I really like the idea of Hex Block for the Terrain. I was just wondering if Heroscape was the first, or it there is anything els like this. Please let me know! Thanks!

And if some people have manage to creat there own battle fields using tiles. Im dont like plan maps like paper battle fields, but like 3d terrain better. I was wonder if ppl have made anything like it!

Question 3

I have just found this website, and wonder what it was.

Here is a link to the terrain Gallery and was wondering if they made it like warhammer, made it with from scratch, if im correct. Some really cool terrain ill have to say.

Thats about it. Thanks anyone who awnsers and if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

At least 3 sets.

At least 2 sets.

At least 2 sets.

Could be 1 set.

At least 2 sets. There are walls from 3 sets, but there might be that much terrain in 2 sets.

1 set

Probably 1 set.

1 set.

Looks like 4 sets.

Probably 2 sets.

There are parts from 4 sets (only two wall pieces per set), but there's only about 2 sets worth of terrain there. Maybe 3.

These might be better questions to ask over on the Geek, unless you're leading up to a design question. Just FYI. You're welcome to ask them here, but you'll probably get more responses to non-design questions there (and more responses to design questions here).

Hex tiles are a very popular way of building random maps in boardgames. Settlers of Catan and Twilight Imperium both use this to create a flat board to play on. Heroscape uses stacking tiles to create elevation, which is used in other games, but not nearly as often. Java is one such game I think, but the stacking is not for creating elevation.

I do remember seeing a few years ago a company producing large styrofoam hex terrain peices for wargaming. These were probably 10" across with hills and rivers and the like. You could then flock and paint them.

I play Heroscape and I think Fastlearner is right with all of those. Most of them probably have expansions though which in some give you a couple more pieces of terrian. Its a fun game, just hard to find people to play with you.

You might be able to find more help here: http://www.heroscape.net/phoenix/ then anywhere else. Its got some great forums about everything Heroscape.

jwalduck, I think you're thinking about GeoHex for the foam terrain hexes. They went out of business 2 years ago or so, maybe less. There's a lot around on the market still, but kind of unpredictable to find. I think there's other companies with similar things (GH had cheapest/most popular), but I'm not aware of any with the presence or popularity of the GeoHex stuff.

WOW!, it is the first time that I see this game and it looks really cool. The hex system idea is far more better than using a ruler to measure movement and firering distance. At the first glance, it remind me "Final Fantasy tactics" with hex instead.

I think you could easily reproduce the landscape with foam core board that you stack one over the other. For higher ground, you can use foam and cut them in the right shape. They are many kind of foam for many usage. I have even seen foam to plant artificial flowers in them. So just take the cheapest foam with no bubbles and it should be OK.

For the object on the map, you can sculpt them your self from foam and paint them or you can look at a train hobby shop. I remember that they sold trees of various size. You could also use artificial plant that you cut very short and plant it in a foam base to make a tree or some sort of vegetation. You can also look at aquarium decoration but they might be more heavy and expensive.

Thanks guys!

I have just bought my new heroscape game, it has more tiles then i thought, but when i build something, why seem to dissapre, lol.

I think for now, i will just use Heroscape Hex pieces, but maybe after i get a few prototype, then i can start to work on my own Terrain. =)
