How you develop a prototype/proposal to send a game company?

When you send a proposal to a game company, what exactly do you send them? Complete rules, drawings, a near final product? some kind of protope? I really would like to do some freelance game design, but I don't know what companies expect in a proffesional game design proposal. Any help would be appreciated.

Me too...

I have the same questions too. Could someone give us some info about submiting a project to game companies, please?

Thank you too much for your support!

Hey guys,
This is what I've been told as far as a proposal, I got it from Brian Tinsman's book on designing and selling games, "The Game Inventor's Guidebook". All it is, is a 1 page letter with basic info on the game, theme, components, type, etc. It should give the prospective publisher a good feel for what you are trying to do. I highly recommend the book and good luck.

I agree with Shrike, both about the book and sending in a single page abstract. If they want more they'll ask for it.

This of this one-page sell sheet as a "resume" for your game. With my game summaries, I make sure to include the following information:

- A brief overview of the game's goal and theme
- What the gameplay experience provides
- Any novel or innovative mechanics
- The components required
- Basic information (# of players, game time, difficulty level)
