For the last few days I have been planning out my board game. Considering that there may be more than 8 players at once (and since the game only plays 4 players), I was wondering "what if" I designed the board game that will allow other board games to connect to each other....thus combining two board games....and of course doubling the number of players & area of play.
Has this idea worked successfully before or am I digging myself into another joke idea??
In board game design, the ability for mapboards to interconnect are termed geomorphic. Geomorphic boards have a few features along the edges of each map thare also found on other boards, allowing connectivity. These boards are often used in war games, allowing designers to make many different board configurations pursuant to individual scenario design.
The wargame Advanced Squad Leader is an excellent example off use geomorphic boards. If I'm not mistaken, they invented the concept in the middle 1970's.
