I just receive my magazine called Des Jeux sur un Plateau that translate to boardgames. They have a contest in partnership with Tric Trac.

The prize is to be edited by Days of Wonder or Asmodee. The jury is compose of Marc Nunes, Croc (Asmodée), Pierre Gaubil, Cyrille Daujean (Days of Wonder), Mr Phal (TricTrac), Manuel Rozoy (Ludothèque de Boulogne Billancourt) et Olivier Arneodo (Des Jeux sur un Plateau). If you are editied you will receive publicity from the magazine Des Jeux sur un Plateau and Tric Trac. If you don't win but get to the final round, your games will be presented to the Cannes Games Festival.

Rules are in French only, but submission can be propose in French or English. I haven't got the time to translate the rules.

The first part is to propose a synopsys by 31/12/05 by mail or by the site.

I'll give it a shot with Emporium XIX. I guess Sedjtroll & Scurra you'll be sending All for One.

Good luck to you all.

Rookie,

That's great news! Hopefully you or one of other french speaking members (hint hint Canadians) can translate the rules so we can post it officially. This is very exciting news indeed! Short notice, but exciting nonetheless!

The magazine was out in France end of October. Living on the other site of the Atlantic, I only received it yesterday.

For the transalation of the rules, it is 3 pages long. I could probably give it a shot during the lunch time. Any format would be interesting for the community ? Is posting within the forum is good. I can put it in my journal and reference it.

I don't read french well enough to even find the rules on the website, but if you had the link you could do a preliminary translation through Google and then spend time cleaning it up. This might save time over doing a translation from scratch.

I started. It's in my personal journal.

Formatting is a pain and I hope I can improve it a little. Do anybody know who to do numbered list in the journal ?

How about a normal list, and start each line with a number?

Maybe easier would be to use word and link tot he doc...

Thanks for the heads up on this!

Translation is done.
Not looking nice but everything is in there. It is located in my Journal location http://www.bgdf.com/modules.php?name=Journal&file=display&jid=471

Of course I can't be responsible for the mistakes. The original french rules will always be the exact ones in case of discrpencies.

If you see any mistakes, please PM me.

Good luck.

Help! Trouble entering the trictrac design contest.

I'm having some trouble sending an entry (due today!) to the trictrac design contest. I believe I have made an account (maybe 2!), but I have still to find where or how to actually submit!

If only I knew French! Google translator is of little help. Can anyone who's successfully submitted help me out here? Maybe a link to the submission page?

Thanks,

- Seth

enter in your name and password.
click on "rendre la connexion permanente" to have it remember your password.

This will take you to another page. At the bottom there is a yellow JSP icon. Click on it.

This will take you to the page where you can create your game entry.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck

Don't forget to fill out your profile page with your address and telephone number!

Look for the "Profil" icon on your JSP home page (the one that lists your submissions). It should be the second icon down on the left side of the main (central) frame on that page.

Also, be advised that you can enter multiple games. I've seen no limit specified in the rules.

Good luck to everybody!

Yes! Thank you! David and I have now submitted All For One, and probably not a moment to soon. I clicked "visible to judges", which I imagine is important.

Good luck to you all!

Any word?

Yesterday I received an e-mail that All For One had moved on to round 2 of the contest, and that the rules are due, in quadruplicate, by Feb 28. The deadline in the rules post was March 31... shouldn't make a difference for this game, but I was a little suprised.

Anyone else hear back?

Congrats, Seth!

Both my component lists got dinged. :(
Ah, well...that means I can polish them up for Hippodice.

What do you mean by 'dinged'? Did they give you actual feedback?

I just double check the rules and my translation. It is clearly written March 15, 06.

I'm a bit pissed by the general organization of the contest. It look disorganized and quickly drafted.

But the final prize is too awsome to let this one pass.

I got a brief automated reply that roughly said, "Your entries don't fall into the categories in which we're currently interested. Thanks for trying. We're sorry you didn't qualify for round 2. Please don't reply to this email."

Indeed, let's not forget Scurra! I posted something in the magazine introducing David, I don't want to pass it off like All For One was my original idea or anything. I think Scurra and I are both on the same page with respect to All For One... I know when *I* talk about that game, any reference to myself is really a reference to both me and David.

So Congrats David! We made the first cut!

- Seth

P.S. I am even more convinced now that this JSP Project is a new way to organize their submissions and weed out the ones they're not interested in. I think it's no coincidence that it cropped up at about the same time Days of Wonder quit accepting submissions.

Ah. Sounds like a standard thing... they probably are looking for a product to fit a particular category with respect to demographics, and they probably have a particular price point range in mind for it to be feasible. The "they" that I'm refering to are Days of Wonder and Asmodee... the companies that are willing to publish the "winners" of the "contest".

I view this project as about the same as submitting to the companies and waiting to hear back - hopefully this format will expedite the process, so any rejections will come quickly rather than having to wait a year to find out they aren't interested in All For One. Of course, if things go well, maybe A41 will be in Days of Wonder's 2007 lineup :)

Yup. It's a pretty slick way to streamline their submissions. The only downside is the lack of feedback for rejectees -- but we shouldn't be looking to these guys to improve our designs, anyway.

I agree it's a good way for them (and probably for us) to streamline the submission process. I wouldn't be suprised to see this again next year.

It's a little too bad about the feedback, but frankly, many of the submissions they turn down will likely be turned down without testing, so there probably isn't a lot of feedback to be had... just guessing here.

Just not necessarily in the same book. :-)

I can honestly say that my experience in working on All for One entirely electronically with Seth has been rewarding, fascinating and frustrating (often all at once.) Everyone ought to try it at least once!

For anyone interested, here's a link to the rulebook submitted for All For One, which I believe is viewable at the trictrac website anyway.

Let me know what gross errors you find in it.

Scurra: Good luck to both of us! Hopefully they will see A41 as the Days of Wonder style game it really is!

Are the rulebooks available to the general public on that website? If so, what is the link? I can't seem to find anything other than my own entry.

It is your project only that you can manage. I don't see any submitted project.

Seth,
I saw that wrote into the forum. It was mentionned that the prototype date wasn't move, but they would apreciate receiving before April 21 so they can showcase the games at Gen Con France.

Yeah, I wasn't sure I understood that... IF they ask for a prototype, they want it by 4/22? Is that what they said? And we'll hear if they want the proto by 3/15?

I think that's the case.
