Hey folks,
I was in a craft store this past weekend looking for some wooden bits and came across these mini cloths pins, probably about a half an inch in length ( see the bottom of the page linked here... http://www.larascrafts.com/mall/Miniatures.asp ) and thought, there must be some sort of game lurking there. Haven't had much time to think about it, but I'll offer it as fodder for you all. ... I'm sure you don't have enough ideas as it is

Along the same lines, perhaps an idea for future showdowns would be to include a component that must be used?

peace,
Tom

I see the clothes pin as more of a counter than anything. You could clip it anywhere on a sliding scale, and expect it to stay put.

That's a good idea you've got there for the showdowns. Creating a game from a theme and mechanics is hard enough, but working from a component - now that could be a real brain-burner.

I'm sure there's limitless potential in even some of the "classic" game components that for some reason are hardly ever used. Like dominoes, or marbles, or jacks.

The first thing that comes to mind for me is birds on a telephone wire. Something involving painting the pins and jogging for position on the wire. Maybe in order to be above certain targets. :)

Or read up on the flock structure of a certain type of bird, such as sparrows or crows. Positions on your wire/tree could represent more or less dominant ranks. Dice rolls and cards could represent interactions w/ other flock members.
