I want to try making a small CCG to play with my friends and maybe a few other peers. All the cards are cheap little things printed out on cardstock, reasons behind this are explained later. There is no energy like ou would find in Magic or Pokemon, you can play any card at any time. Each player has a 40 card stash (Your deck), a dumpster (Discard pile) and a sandwich (Your hand). The reason the cards are so cheap is that they're expected to get mutilated, or stolen during gameplay. Take for example a card called crazy confetti, where you shred up the card, stand back and throw, any cards that are touching a piece go into the dumpster. Also some cards get folded up, and there are cards that allow you to steak opponents cards, like throw away, where you throw the card, and the opponent throws a card selected by you. If you throw further you keep that card. The point is to reduce your opponents deck to zero. This game is supposed to have very little organization, or complexity, but still may be fun. Tell me your opinions please!

It takes a strong designer to hand make cards that are fully intended to be destroyed in the playing of the game. That being said, I think it's an interesting premise, albeit a little dramatic for a card game. I think there are obvious problems with the fact that each player would pretty much have to create a new deck for every game (cards that aren't totally destroyed are likely to be folded or otherwise marked making them unusable).

Given that, it would be an interesting print and play game where players would print their own cheap cards to play with others. I have heard of Magic tournaments where players shred the cards that go into the graveyard (although I've heard that this is mostly to get rid of undesirable or weak cards). Your game wouldn be inspired by such an event would it?

Interesting premise, not one that appeals to me, but I'm sure there are those out there (your friends included) that could get into the spirit of the game.

Actually no, I didn't know of those type of Magic tournaments. Also, I am planning on making the game very cheap, about 50 cent for 20-25 cards, and players are encouraged to bring a lot of extra cards for a single play time. Unfortunately, this screams downtime, but I like the idea a lot. I would also like to put some real-time mechanics into the game. Thanks for the feedback!

I don't know about tournaments, but people used to play 'Ironman" Magic back in the day. Cards going to the graveyard got torn up.

There was also an Unglued card (Unglued was a magic set that was like a parody of Magic, all jokes) called Chaos Confetti, which does exactly what you described- tear it up and throw the pieces onto the board from a certain distance away, any cards they land on go to the Graveyard.

In fact, if you and your friends have played Magic, then perhaps you'd like Unglued. They just came out with another Unglued set (Unhinged) recently. I have played with Unglued cards before, it's amusing, but I always preferred "real" Magic.

I played in a Magic Ironman tournament just last Christmas.
Anyone who doesn't know anything about current Magic cards should look away now.

We played Champions sealed. For some bizarre reason, I built a Dampen Thoughts arcane/splice deck. That's one that works by milling your opponent's deck into the graveyard. In an Ironman tournament, this means that your opponent spends most of their time tearing cards up - which means you don't get many left over to "win" for the next round.
I won two rounds with this deck, and then, since I was losing the semi-final, milled myself to death. I reckon I must have destroyed about 60 cards that day :-) But it was fun, even my opponents admitted that...

Actually my friend told me the name 'Chaos Confetti' but didn't tell me the effect until later. I didn't include that in the first post because I thought he was 'Fibbing' and didn't want to appear to be foolish

Topic change: "They Came at Dawn!"

I just got a new boardgame idea tonight and didn't want to waste space for a whole new thread. If you want to continue giving feedback on Uu-Blish, I'd still be grateful, though!

The game is called "They Came at Dawn!"
Inspired by seeing the game "Zombies!!!" at boardgamegeek.com and by the movies "Shaun of the Dead" and even "Signs"

There are two game phases, the first face is the 'Fortify' phase. A group playing as humans in a house or building or whatever (The area changes depending on what scenario you play) and they must fortify it. They can push up things against doors, board up doors and windows (If they have enough supplies!) Etc., Etc. At dawn the 'Execute' phase begins.

In the 'Execute' phase there is another player controlling a group of Zombies, which are, needless to say, much slower than humans, and can't carry weapons, but there are many more Zombies than humans and can take much more damage. The humans can win one of two ways: 1) Eliminate all the Zombies and 2) Wait 2 days for a special forces team to arrive and kill the Zombies.

Some features I'd like to include in the game are
-Man's best friend. What's not great about a Zombie-Killing dog?
-Hidden areas. Zombies don't know where the humans are (Unless they're loud) and Humans don't know where Zombies are (Again, unless they're loud)

Also, I'm not sure whether or not someone should play as the special forces or not if they come. Maybe I should forget the route altogether, or maybe it should only be available in certain scenarios. I also want to make a kit that will let people create they're own scenarios, and I think I could do interesting things with night/day phases. Please give any feed back or suggestions you may have!
