Is there a way to customize dice with icons or text? I am specifically interested in prism shaped dice of various denominations. Although I am nowhere near even prototyping the game in which I would need custom dice, I

The easiest way to customize dice is to print onto labels cut them to size and attach them to regular dice.

In making your own dice, you need to be aware of probability theory on how they roll and which numbers they are basised towards.

The dice use in craps have been field tested for many years. Be sure your new design serves the concept of your game. Consider a twelve sided dice as it is one of the few regular solids such a cube or tetrahedreon.

For a more high tech approach, the mold for the dice could be accurately shaped and cut in metal to your specification with whatever image or number you desired ingraved. That master can be used to make and mold and the final product could be cast in any of the material used for regular dice.

Of course, if you are doing a high end game, you could have your design carved into hardwood or semi-precious stone.

For prototyping purposes, Koplow makes blank 6-, 8-, 10-, and 12-sided dice (you will need to order them from a retailer):

First of all, thank you for the responses.

In the game the dice are for, the shape is integral to the rules. The icons on the faces of the dice must also be very easy to read. On D20
