Several Newnie questions

First I have my game doen. I am wanting to try to get it published. I have been reading all the posts here and a few other boards and sent a million and one requests of email to many different components and still in the same spot as I was.

1) Since doing our game we pasted pictures from the internet we printed onto cards for our decks. Which we have 2 decks. Can you submit like this to a company as your prototype and allow them to get their own illustrators???? Or do I need to get them redone??

2) How do I find a company willing to publish a game which is as simple as chutes and ladders but has an educational factor to put a twist to it which makes it more interesting as well as fun??? My children play it all the time and now getting me to research things for them for facts about the world from the educational deck we added.
This game takes 20-30 minutes play but they play for an hour no problem without any sqabbles or fights.

3) Where do I get a copy of such a simple rule set??

4) What category do I look into since educational but is simple like chutes and ladders but trivial as trivia pursuit??? This game can also have added on expansion versions to it thats why my kids are always getting me to do more research for they can play again with more facts.

Please help as I would like to see other children thrive on learning as my kids do with it. I am not so worried about the cashflow it could generate or the recognition it could get. Thats just icing on the cake and would split it with the person who helps to achieve this with me.

If a publisher decides to publish the game, they will usually hire a professional artist to redo the art for the game.

For starters, I suggest "Out of the Box" and "University Games". Both companies specialize in simple, sometimes educational, family, or children's games, and take submissions.

There are several companies that publish trivia games or educational games, sometimes even both. Here are links to a site containing many links to publishers. It's in Dutch, but that shouldn't be much of a problem:

http://www.bordspel.com/links/uitgever.html
http://www.bordspel.com/links/uitgever2.html

Just click on the links. See what kind of games the company publishes and try to imagine whether your game would fit into their product line. If you think it might fit, see if you can find on their website whether they take submissions. If so, drop them an email, or contact them in whatever way the specify on their site, explain the game and why you think they should publish it. If you are lucky they'll respond, and if you're even luckier they might ask you to send them a copy of the rules or even the prototype.

I might have been able to answer these questions if they were phrased in such a way that I could actually understand them.

Good luck!

I have not been able to get a copy of the rules for chutes and ladders or candyland in which I can open. Does anyone have one copy or know where they are listed as a page and not a downloaded document????

Which category do I search for in publishers compnies directory? I know not to submit this game to someone who main focus is wartime or RPG games. Do i seek out the educational game sections for publishers first or would you look at preschool and beginners games age 3-7???

Well, I haven't checked to see if I could find the rules to those game on the internet, but surely it can't be that hard to write the rules for such a simple game yourself, now can it?

Why not submit the game to publishers of both categories? It will double your chances. There's probably a lot of overlap between those categories anyway.

Adobe Reader (link) can read the PDF files available through Hasbro's site ...
