I am battling with the layout of my cards in my deck building game (The Great Totem). The layout is actually going to play a large role in how the mechanics work since I don't want my cards to have too much information or be too busy. I was hoping some people would like to maybe upload a card or two (or even more) from different categories of their own games so I could see different types/possibilities that others have done.

Example Layouts

Did a 35-second Internet search, and found dozens of examples. Enjoy!

Of of my issues is that for each animal or item, you must have a required amount of element/item to "purchase" that card. So there will be a combination of 3 different elements to purchase a card. Aside from that, each card will have different numbers that affect gameplay. For example, you need 2 harmony, 5 chaos, and 2 coup to kill a grizzly bear. After successfully obtaining that card , when it comes around in your hand you can use it to attack an additional +5 chaos. Where do purchases costs of a card usually end up when compared to the usage costs (if there is a typical)? I imagine most designers choose their own method but I don't know if there's a standard. I assume the usage numbers will be more important since you're only really worried about the purchase cost when you first come across the card. Once it makes its way into your deck you will only be looking at the output numbers (+5 chaos).

Well, obviously the answer is "wherever you want".

But if the card is in your hand and only requires one of those sets of numbers to be visible, then it should be on the upper left, which is the most naturally visible part of the card when you fan a hand of cards.

Which means I'd put the other stuff across from it, on the right.

(if it's never in your hand, then it matters even less, but I'd still say "across from each other")
