For those who does not know, I have been reading a game design book called "The art of game design" and while reading the book, I made a summary of each chapter. I finally finished reading the book and writing the summary. It is available here

http://ariel.minilab.bdeb.qc.ca/~ericp/cgi-bin/boardgame/index.php?n=Des...

I currently only have 1 book summarized, as I read more, I will add new books. Now what is the purpose of these summaries, well first it is a reminder for me who has a short memory. I can get back in touch with the content of the book without re-reading the book. Second, It allows you to get in touch with the content of the book without reading 500 pages.

Since this summary has been written chapter by chapter, it is possible that the redaction style changes with time. There might also be some language errors since English is not my first language.

Besides that, I hope you enjoy the content and I hope it can help your designs.

I would like to have feedback about the summarization process.

Was it clear?
Is it too much sumarized?
Is it too much detailed?
(of course, it is hard to tell since you do not have the original text.

Thank You

Very, very good

A very well done summary. The length for each chapter is good and the bullet-points help a lot. I've only read up to Chapter 10, but it's very good so far.

Your English is very good except for a few phrases like 'hook up totally' instead of 'totally hook up'. Is your first language French? It has that kind of structure. Also you kept on saying 'Game design consist' or 'game consist'. It should be 'the game consists'. Unless it's an irregular verb, most third person direct verbs (i.e. he and she) have an 's' added to the end.

Except for those minor niggles it's very well done.

Yep

I am currently re-writing my game rules and my friend found some problems about my verb tense. I mix various tenses in the same paragraph but I also do this in french, so it is more a general language problem. So I am now converting all the "You should do this" by "the player should do this" in my rules. And I also realized that when using this form, all verbs takes an "s" which is one of the few grammatical rule in English. Finally, I know that sometimes I mix up some words, that according to me could all be used in the same situation like "had" vs "has". There are a few others I cannot think about. In general, I write in English like I ear it, I am very bad at remembering rules and exceptions which is very bad in french due to the amount of rules and exceptions.

Anyways, if the summary is understandable, I am happy.

English is hard...

I'll read some more today.

Don't worry about your English; there's lots of rules, but just as many exceptions to those rules!
