Before I post, I would like to thank the BGDF community for helping me out with various mechanics (such as Trump suits and various RPSs).
I am keeping those mechanics in mind, however I am trying to build a more generic "framework" around certain concepts.
In plain English, I have 5 suits: Ignis/Fire/Red, Terra/Earth/Green, Aqua/Water/Blue, Solis/Sun/White and Lunae/Moon/Black.
What I am trying is to determine, is what each suit should be.
For example if Ignis (Fire) is attack, well then the suit's cards should be all about attacking. There are 4 types of cards (Creature, Equipment, Relic and Enchantment).
So for example, a Creature could be a "Red Dragon" and it should have a high attack with a tap bonus of "Breath of Fire". This is an example only.
Another example could be an equipment such as a "Ceremonial Dagger" and it could have a tap bonus of "Vorpal" (beheading). This might make a good Moon (Lunae) if that suit is all about death.
So Ignis (or Fire) could be all about "attack" and therefore the opposite Aqua (or Water) might mean "defense". And for the example, Lunae (or Moon) could be for "death".
If the sun is opposite of the moon, that would suggest that Sun suit be about "life" (auras, regeneration, health, cures, etc.)
Okay, so basically all I need to figure out what Earth (Terra) should be??? It's color is Green.
Any ideas would be much appreciated... Also if you have alternate suggestion to any of the other suit, please feel free to share.
I had not thought of 2 types (or more) attacks. The expansion ideas is interesting also... I will keep those in mind.
At the moment, I am looking at a standard 60 card deck (5 suits of 12 cards). Each suit has 4 types of cards. I am still working out combat/victory point calculations. One suit will be a trump suit (Moon) which allow taping (for lack of a better term) at any time. Otherwise the capacity to tap depend on the mana required by the card and the corresponding dice.
Something like that...
Oh yeah - Each dice is polyhedral (d6, d8, d10 and d12). So you have the dice plus an X factor for each one. So this means that Enchantments which use the d12 are very random (1-12) when they can be taped. Summoning a creature (d6 + 6) is less random (6 - 12) or about 50% odds.
I am hoping that with the odds being calculated in this fashion, hardcore players can get a feel for the game and establish rules towards playing...
The mana requirements are ONLY for taping the card. To put the card in play, there are no requirements. Taping will trigger bonus victory points and perform special abilities. Like the ceremonial dagger when taped can kill 1 opponent's creature instantly - vorpal.
