I've come up with a mechanic that I think could be a lot of fun.
It would be a dexterity worker placement game.
Players bid for turn order, with last turn being the most desired.
They then flick their workers onto the board.
You are allowed to bump into your own and other players pieces. If you knock another player's piece off the board, they get it added back to the supply to use again, if you knock your own piece off the board it is lost.
Once everyone has flicked all their pieces, you would perform whatever action is dictated by the spots they finally landed on.
This means spots are going to be open for multiple people, so I was considering making the spots act like bull's-eyes, where the closer you are to the center, the more rewarding that spot is.
The problem I'm having is coming up with a good theme so that I can flesh out the mechanics further.
The only real idea I've had is something like Black Friday at Wal Mart. Players would have a list of items to purchase, and they'd have to flick their workers to different areas of the stores to get them. I feel this theme works well with the ability to push other people out of the way, and the kind of chaotic nature of a black Friday sale. However, I think that theme may relegate it to only being a holiday game, which is not what I want.
Any ideas for other themes I could attach to a dexterity based worker placement game?
I really like that idea. Definitely a space worth exploring a lot more.
