Do Dungeon Crawls do this?

I've never played any Dungeon Crawl games but I have an idea for a game and I'm wondering if DC games address a mechanic I have in mind.

So each player will have their own set of 5 dice and will meet in a common area to complete a task. Let's say they are there to fight for an object and whoever rolls the best Yahtzee hand after three rolls gets the best reward. There are also lesser rewards to 2nd place, etc.

One additional choice will be to leave after one or two rolls to get another reward on the way to the next area. So in addition to competing for a reward in one area, they also have the decision of when to leave for the next area to pick up something on the way (say a bonus power that enhances future rolls or simply victory points).

Any games like this and or does this sound novel and fun?

Welcome :)

Hi and welcome on board :)

If you haven't played any DCs, go and Play DCs so you can see how they work.

Regarding your Yahtzee mechanics: Yes, actually there are lots of games using them. Whether there is a DC employing them, too, I don't know and personally I don't care, since anything Yahtzee turns me off.
In a dungeon crawl I want to get that feeling of bashing doors in, whacking monsters around and collecting loot. I don't want to have the Feeling of being required to roll the "best" result (whatever "best" might be in that case).

Kind regards,
Kai

No DC games spring to mind that use mechanic's like this, so this in itself makes it sound novel.

It does release an interesting possibility - extra cards / abilities / powers etc - you can add to rolls, re-roll 1 hand etc etc.

I don't think the mechanic in its own right is unique enough though, as people who want to play dungeon crawls don't want to be having to roll so many hands, and want to roll vs various basic abilities instead and have the enjoyment of smashing monsters heads in & breaking doors down

Thanks for the feedback. I

Thanks for the feedback. I think I do want to add one or two combat scenarios along with collecting resources. Since this is more of a filler, I'd like to keep it light as far as rules. Any suggestions to handle combat with 5 dice?

What if you roll three times for the enemy and the highest result is the combat score to beat? Then other players can roll three times and have to beat that? They can also use one reroll power they collected along the way. Or maybe they have collected powers that adds +1 or more to their final roll value? And maybe they have to beat the final enemy to even qualify to win? Hmmmm.

There are a lot of dungeon

There are a lot of dungeon themed dice game. I know 2 which is dungeon roll and Dungeon dice I think.

I read your post in diagonal, but I think your idea look similar to Elder Sign, a cuthullu dice game. Might want to take a look to those 3 games for ideas.
