Investors

Hi,

Do you guys know, are there any games that focuses mainly on manipulating the value of game components via some stock market or similar?

I've been making this Investors game, where in the core of the game is a stock board. Each player is building their Funds (quite like in Bohnanza) from one colour cards. Value of that Fund is determined by the amount of cards in it and the stock value. There are of course several ways to manipulate the stock value in the game..

This is just a query, to know are there other games like mine..

Thanks!

ps. I'm working on english version of the rulebook... And I have made Google sheets version of the game. So if anyone's interested on playtesting, there might be an opportunity in the future for that.. But I'll post a note in a different section of the forum afterwards about that.

Thanks for the link! About board game Crude it said: while simulating changing market environments... Seems like that game has something like what I mean.. Others mainly were about investing in something and hoping it to grow. Like Trail way or airline building games.. Some had dice to balance the economy.

In my game there is a Stock board that gives the value on 6 different Stocks. Players have to manipulate that board to gain best value for their cards. I'm writing a blog about it to BoardGameGeeg. I'll publish it once I take some pictures first.

I would say...

Any game that has some kind of bidding mechanic would fall under this category...

For Sale, Power Grid, Pink Godzilla, Spartacus, etc. There are tons of games like this.

Thats true. I did ask about changing prices.. And those have liquid values, but in those games the values are determined by players, as they bid. Of course, the prices go up when the game advances..

Here I have tried to build a mechanism where the values are affected by chooses that players make along the game. Eg. one can sabotage the value of another players cards, or Invest in such a way that it benefits themselves.. Then there is no auction to help out the player if the value of his cards has sank.

Mars Needs Mechanics

In Mars Needs Mechanics, the prices for each commodity are modified at the end of the round by the purchases (or lack thereof) made that round, as well as the order in which they're purchased. Long story short: when a commodity is bought, it goes to the "top of the heap" and everything moves further down the line. The top two have price increases, and the bottom one (or two, I can't remember) have price reductions.

Kind of like a market run with the placement mechanics of Get Bit!.
