Hey everyone, long time lurker here, first time poster.

I have about 5 games in the pipeline and I wanted to share one of my major ideas to get some feedback and possibly stir up some common interest and develop a team. My game is extremely large for me and Im having issues with endurance in bringing it to prototype.

All that having been said, I bring you the Game called Elon:

[Storyline]

There are 10 Planets that circle the glowing sphere called "Center" (working title), the first 5 are separated from the next 5 by a dark nebulous void in between them. The void is called "Dark Abyss" (working title). The light from Center reaches the outer planets much more faintly due to the Dark Abyss creating a strong separation between characteristics of each inhabitants.

Each planet has an extremely powerful energy source within its core called "Elon". Each Elon has its own unique type of energy. Some Elon is based on Life, some Elon is based on fire and so on, and as such on every planet there is a being called an "Elondra" created on it to guard and protect the planet it is responsible for.

The Elondra are very powerful and as a side effect of all sentient beings with power comes a hunger for it leading to war between the planets, Elondra vs. Elondra.
The darker planets grouping heavily together against the lighter ones, created something called "Temper"... Dark Temper and Light Temper.

The Great Elondra War became tiresome as each Elondra was made unique but altogether equal causing hundreds of years of endless and pointless stalemates.

During the course of the latter years of battles the Elondra began experimenting with a new ability they found within themselves, the ability to create life.

Each Elondra created beings that are formed out of the same essence as the planets Elon energy source.
The beings created became powerful in ability and subservient to their makers and in turn the Elondra became tired and lazy of constant battle sending their own self designed creatures into war against each other.

Creatures from the Dark Temper being sent to destroy creatures of the Light Temper while the Elondra rest and plot further.

Unknown times pass and the war rages on endlessly, the Elondra using their creatures in their stead to create destruction and war. Something however in the deep parts of each race began to stir. The creatures themselves became aware of their individuality and uniqueness. They saw themselves as separated from their Elondra and also with that, saw the war as something that was not of their own.

Members of each race met up with one another in secret, creating a plan for peace.
With their combined skills and abilities, they formed a magical trapping called a "Banishing Stone" (working title). This stone trapped the Elondra binding them and muting their authority.

With The Elondra all captured, the banishing stone broke into 10 equal parts, each going to every individual race.

At that the Great Elondra War was over and peace for years between these powerful races existed for the first time since their creation.

However, with great power once again, comes great hunger for it.

Eons into peace the dark temper made an incredible discovery in the Banishing Stone. Although the Elondra was bound, their power was not. The ability to pull the Elon energy through the Elondra still remained. The races of the Dark Temper planets once again roused for war against the Light Temper. This time they used the Elondra, instead of being used.

Peace was over, the next great war has begun and the power of the Elondra once again is released, contained by the stone each race now pulls from its own Elondra to gain Elon and dominate ultimately the entire system.

Please link to the rules -

Please link to the rules - there's no point in keeping them "secret" anyways ;) and little reason to fear anyone in here. I think it would actually allow people to comment on the game itself, in contrast to commenting on it's bg-story etc.

You are however correct that this project would most likely demand a team and not a single developer. I'm writing this of my own experience with my own CCG, WTactics.org - it has taken immense amounts of time and effort and is one of my major hobbies. If you lack patience though, creating a good CCG is more or less impossible: If it's one thing you will need it will be to see things in the long-term perspective and be prepared for quite a long ride.

Please don't misread this, but I think you could have plenty to gain from choosing to stick with whatever you have in mind but theme your game into a fantasy setting instead. By doing that and creating a new/own developers crew/path on WTactics you would get instant access to all my material, web structure and any and all card art, templates etc. I currently have 140 pieces art (yeah, legally, that's the only way to go) and counting, and I have also hired an artist, so new work is coming in as we write. If you would have specific demands of what needs to be drawn I guess we could discuss that as well.

I've been working a year on WTactics and believe me, it's not an easy task creating a CCG. Because of that very same reason I also welcome all to participate in the project, either by joining me in developing the ruleset I have in my mind OR by you creating a new development path and creating/using new cards/rules adapted to whatever your needs are, in essence creating a game different from what I'm creating myself right now. In any case, I think it would be beneficial in plenty of ways to many that are interested in CCG development: We use the same bricks and co-work and share them, but could still develop very different games using them independently from each other (or one would help the other in his/her endeavour - it's all up to the individuals involved to decide).

One thing though: Please notice that all resources related to WTactics are open source and will always stay that way. (You will however still be fully allowed to sell the game, both mine and your own, if you'd wish to do so, and keep all the trillions you'll make yourself. The only implications of the open source thingie is that you must always share for free as well. ;) )

I wish you the best of luck independent of what course you'll take, and hope you don't consider this offer of co-work as spam.

Temper?

Dunno what you meant by Dark and High Temper but maybe you should look it up on wikipedia or something:

Temperament:
In psychology, temperament refers to those aspects of an individual's personality, such as introversion or extroversion, that are often regarded as innate rather than learned.

Since this is (if I understood correctly) a sci-fi game, you probably meant _Templars_ as they are in Starcraft and probably many other games. Maybe not the best feedback but I just thought Tempers we'rent that good name for a race...
