Hello, I thought before posting the full game rules, I thought I would give an outline, of my idea for my latest construction, this is the first game I've decided to post on a site like this.
Well the basic concept is similar to that of German style games that to succeeded you have to use the other players as unwilling or willing aids to your eventual victory.
To allow for variance in the game, the board is built with hexes, like Catan, however the most important hex's in this game are water, and coast. The idea behind the game is that on each coast hex 2 resources are produced, such as Oil, and diamond for an example. If you build a port there, then you control the supply and trade for these resources, each port wants 4 different resources, they pay an amount of gold for them (supplied by the bank) but that gold is not always the same. So at one port diamond may be worth 19, at another 25 so its in your best interests to trade with the richer port. However ports only want a few of each, so you have to plan your trades carefully.
You trade by building ships, there are multiple types of ships from small tremies to large schooners, all have there pros and cons. You can also build war ships to intercept other players trading ships, and claim the riches for yourself. A diplomacy system is also included in the game.
Skill level of the game 6:10
Play time 1-2 hours
Players 3-6
Rules= 6 pages. (2000 words)
Each set includes about 140 hex's that's enough to make a 7 edged hex.
It also includes 8 of each boat, 8 of each building (16 of base buildings) for each color.
As well as all the necessary cards, and tokens.
Each set would cost about $40 Us to buy at a store.
There would be hex expansions for the game, that add more hex's and tokens and pieces. the largest board so far play tested is 10-10 which took 271 hex's and about 3 and half hours to play.
Is this the sort of game you would be interested in?
If you have any questions I will answer them, as this is only a quick overview of the game.
Thanks
Nightwalker.
I spent about 1 month making models out of Plaster, then recently started resin molding them.
Diplomacy in my game works like this (quotes from the rule book)
"This is where you set allegiances with other players this can be adjusted only once per turn, other players cannot change their diplomacy’s in your turn unless it relates to you.
Diplomatic options are: Peace, Neutral, War they shall me explained bellow
Peace: allows for trading between the players at peace, it also allows for allies to dock and restock at your ports (explained in movement) you must end your allegiance a turn before you can attack the former ally.
Neutral: allows for trading between neutral players, and you may attack other neutral players whenever you choose without any warning.
War: you cannot trade to any player you are at war with, you can attack them anytime, at end of a war all stolen or captured ships or ports are not returned.
"
So for example if A was at war with C but both were allied with B, a could trade/give or sell something to B to sell to C. However A-C can not trade.
Does this make sense?
