Hello, I thought before posting the full game rules, I thought I would give an outline, of my idea for my latest construction, this is the first game I've decided to post on a site like this.

Well the basic concept is similar to that of German style games that to succeeded you have to use the other players as unwilling or willing aids to your eventual victory.

To allow for variance in the game, the board is built with hexes, like Catan, however the most important hex's in this game are water, and coast. The idea behind the game is that on each coast hex 2 resources are produced, such as Oil, and diamond for an example. If you build a port there, then you control the supply and trade for these resources, each port wants 4 different resources, they pay an amount of gold for them (supplied by the bank) but that gold is not always the same. So at one port diamond may be worth 19, at another 25 so its in your best interests to trade with the richer port. However ports only want a few of each, so you have to plan your trades carefully.

You trade by building ships, there are multiple types of ships from small tremies to large schooners, all have there pros and cons. You can also build war ships to intercept other players trading ships, and claim the riches for yourself. A diplomacy system is also included in the game.

Skill level of the game 6:10
Play time 1-2 hours
Players 3-6
Rules= 6 pages. (2000 words)

Each set includes about 140 hex's that's enough to make a 7 edged hex.
It also includes 8 of each boat, 8 of each building (16 of base buildings) for each color.
As well as all the necessary cards, and tokens.
Each set would cost about $40 Us to buy at a store.
There would be hex expansions for the game, that add more hex's and tokens and pieces. the largest board so far play tested is 10-10 which took 271 hex's and about 3 and half hours to play.

Is this the sort of game you would be interested in?
If you have any questions I will answer them, as this is only a quick overview of the game.

Thanks
Nightwalker.

This does sound like the sort

This does sound like the sort of game that I would be interested in, Nightwalker. Wow, are you already going through publication and everything?

I'd like to hear more about the diplomacy if that's alright.

Sure

I spent about 1 month making models out of Plaster, then recently started resin molding them.

Diplomacy in my game works like this (quotes from the rule book)

"This is where you set allegiances with other players this can be adjusted only once per turn, other players cannot change their diplomacy’s in your turn unless it relates to you.

Diplomatic options are: Peace, Neutral, War they shall me explained bellow

Peace: allows for trading between the players at peace, it also allows for allies to dock and restock at your ports (explained in movement) you must end your allegiance a turn before you can attack the former ally.

Neutral: allows for trading between neutral players, and you may attack other neutral players whenever you choose without any warning.

War: you cannot trade to any player you are at war with, you can attack them anytime, at end of a war all stolen or captured ships or ports are not returned.
"

So for example if A was at war with C but both were allied with B, a could trade/give or sell something to B to sell to C. However A-C can not trade.

Does this make sense?

It does.

I don't suppose you've thought about making a video displaying the game's play?

Good plan.

I have thought of it now :) I will, just need to get the parts back of a friend, he was painting the tiles for me.

What part of the game play would you want in the video? Or just a fast forwarded version of the game?

Thanks.

I can't see the advantage of war over neutral. War prohibits you from trading, but what do you gain?

Sorry that I was not clear

After attacking a player, you are at war with them, neutral is the normal state for allegiances, however peace has its advantages as well.

War and Peace

I also wonder when peace is re-established, you mention a war ending and captured things gaining a more permanent owner... I also do not see direct advantages to peace vs war (when there is a middle person to trade with anyway). Interesting game idea!

Let's Play

Basically, a couple of rounds, I s'pose so that people could wrap their minds around everything. The first round could be a quick overview of the rules while showing them in action would be what I'm thinking of. Then the second round would show everything again, perhaps with a different strategy, without the commentary.

Hmmm, can you think of anyway to improve the diplomacy system? The current one works better with more players, as the situation may arrive when A-B are allied, and at war with C-D and E is neutral to all, so then E suddenly gets allot of trading power.

Or for example A is at war with C, but A produces all the diamonds, and C's ports will pay heaps for them, so B takes them from A at 75% or some amount, then makes a profit by finishing there journey.

Time to get cracking on the painting, should be able to make the video for you soonish, hopefully in the weekend, will get some people over and play it, then speed up the play and give you a commentary for the start. That way you will get to watch players learning to play, and so the rules should be explained, and shown, without too complex strategies.

In this demo some pieces from Catan, and Spanish Main will be used, as the ones made for this game, are well still being made. The tiles used, will not be the same as the ones in the final product, however I wish they could be, as they are all 3D, with forests etc. I think the final tiles will be more like Catan ones as in 2d with art.

But the game will be the same, just the parts showed in the video will be different, sorry.
