Need help with a new name for Sheep and Shepherd. We need to appeal to an international audience and Germany in particular. Must be children friendly and it does skew to a younger audience. The game is largely about a shepherd trying to fence in sheep while the sheep are trying to escape the fencing. Thanks!!!

The first thought that comes to mind

As I read, I thought of German shepherd dogs, and I was wondering what the name of that breed of dog might be in german. are the players trying to keep the sheep in? they could be the shepherd dogs while the shepherd tries to build the fences (separate roles/players)

Game notes

It is a 2 player game where one fences as Shepherd (area control) and one escapes (much like the game of Memory).

Thanks!

Safe Schafe?

Thanks! I thought I was barking up the right tree.

You could also call it Stampede! if you want to put a little wild west flavor into it. In fact, making something appear rustic, western, and "American" was something that Chileans craved in products, as far as I could tell while I lived there. For some reason, they loved westerns more than we do! Maybe that explains Bang!'s success in the Italian market?

Help

Hi,
I'm a native German. If you could describe your game in more detail, i could surely present a name for it. By the way, this google translates are horrible!

Game Description

Sheep and Shepherd is a 2 player game where 1 player fences in sheep tiles and the other player plays a memory game matching sheep tiles. Fenced in sheep cannot be flipped over by the memory game player, however.

There are rams that break fences down (possibly allowing a sheep to escape by flipping) and old fence posts that may be mended (which allow the fencing player to fence faster).

Thanks for all the help!!!

German names

Sheep and shepard would be Schaf und Schäfer
Why Name it different in German? Other ideas would be

Schafe suchen (search for sheep)
Scharfe Schafe (hot sheep)
Herdentrieb (Difficult to translate. Means the urge to do the same as others. But also
means holding the herd together. "Trieb" also has a slightly sexual touch.)
Hope That helps.

Well...

We don't want a SEXUAL TOUCH. It's a kid's game for Christ's sake.
