Morsel - A sample card

hello,
one of my side projects is almost complete and will be released as free print-n-play in less than two month. its a simple dueling card game that uses a small board to add some tactical options to it. the images and in fact all of the design are typical "doodle style". the game is playable in 20-30 minutes, limited to two players ages 8 and up.

so, my first name ideas are listed below. but i am afraid that some of the names would not be suitable for children, on the other hand - they say that "duelmasters" (for example) is suitable for children 8+ and there is representation of death and destruction all over their cards. so maybe not to take the "child safety" issue too serious?

A. Weird Wars
B. Freak Wars
C. Doodle Wars
D. Odd Wars

I have decided for D so far. A+B are too negative and C reminds me of a drawing game (wich it is absolutely not!). So far the typical gameplay terms are built completely around the word "Odd":

* Name: Odd Wars
* Subtitle/Tagline: Rise of the Oddities!
* Name of Creatures : Oddities
* Centerpoints the players battle over: Oddium Sources
* Resource of the Game: Oddium
* Card States: Even / Odd
* Creature Powers: Odd Power

Attached you find an image. Maybe you have some more ideas - as i am from germany I am not so well versed when its about english names, terms and background worlds suitable for children. Thanks a lot!

Name the game...

How about something clever with Odd...

Like "Odds Are"
or "Odd Thomas"?

Actually I have difficulty naming my games as well :(

haha - yes naming is the most

haha - yes naming is the most difficult aspect in boardgame design! :-)

hmm.... "against all odds!"

well, better not.

But, it does not have to be "odd", if someone has a really good idea

* Doodle Royal
* Comic Combat
* Battle of Blobs

Really like "The ODDyssey"

Really like "The ODDyssey" though players might expect a greek theme to the Oddities. If you don't use this for the base game its pretty good expansion launch point.

How about: "Odd 1 Out!"

"One Odd comes - a million

"One Odd comes - a million others follow"

but this is too long, rather a tagline for expansions

My Entry

I like Pink Floyd. And as a tribute to their song "Gods of War", would offer "Odds of War".

now something different: like

now something different:

like in other games you can tap and untap cards. this is called "odd" or "even" cards.

is this too over the top or do you think it is okay for a free fun game? (remember creatures are called oddities)

"Even target Oddity"
"Odd target Oddity"
"If target Oddity is even, odd this card"
"If this card is odd, even target Oddity"

and so on....

:-D

Name

The only names I could think of are Critter Combat and Doodle Duels. Catchy, but not sure if that's what you're looking for.
