I WANT TO BE A CEREAL KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by P. Kellach Waddle
In this card game of strategy and luck you will set up 7 horrible marauders of morning mealtime on your shelf , then use the dice rolls to kill them and collect your reward.
I WANT TO BE A CEREAL KILLER!!!!!
COMPONENTS : 152 Cards, One set of 2 normal six sided dice.
OBJECT : To Collect $5000 of Reward Money for Killing Evil Cereals.

OVERVIEW
The game consists of two phases. In the first phase you are drawing and laying down cards from your hand to fill a "shelf" of 7 of the 11 evil monster cereals. Once your shelf is complete you proceed to the second phase rolling dice to attempt to kill off the whole shelf of 7 Monster Cereals.
CARDS AND CARD DISTRIBUTION
There are 152 cards in the deck.
------99 EVIL MONSTER CEREALS :9 of each of the 11 possible dice rolls featuring a cereal monster -- each monster has a number corresponding to a dice roll and a reward amount for " killing" the card in proportion to how difficult that particular number is to hit on a single roll of 2 dice.

3- Rancid Fruit Freaks $350
4- Haunted House Drearios $200
5-Honey Nutso Wackos $125

The rest of the deck are special cards that can :
-- increase your chances to kill as many evil cereals as possible in phase 2
-- upend you and your opponent's choices of cereal
-- send your opponent's cereals all crashing off the shelf forcing him or her to start over
-- protect your shelf from destruction and/or repair it
--SHELF AFFECT CARDS :
--7 Broken Shelf Cards.---A Player plays this on your shelf and it comes careening down sending all of their cereals into the discard pile and they have to start building their shelf from scratch !!!
--7 Shelf Repair Cards -- Hold one of these in your hand when someone tries to break your shelf with the Broken Shelf Card - and your cereal choices are safe !!
--3 Unbreakable Shelf Cards.-- Play one of these in front of your shelf and it is safe for the whole round !!
-- CEREAL CHOICE EFFECT CARDS
16 Spilled Milk !!! Cards
These cards coming up throw your and your opponents' cereal choices into upheaval, just like if you spilled milk all over your breakfast table !!
4 of each :
-- Trade your MOST expensive cereal in your shelf for your Opponent's LEAST Expensive cereal in their shelf.
-- Trade your LEAST expensive cereal in your shelf for your Opponent's LEAST Expensive cereal in their shelf.
-- Trade your MOST expensive cereal in your shelf for your Opponent's MOST Expensive cereal in their shelf.
--Trade your LEAST expensive cereal in your shelf for your Opponent's MOST Expensive cereal in their shelf.
( As you can see, these can really throw a wrench into someone's cereal choice strategy.)
-- LATE BREAKFAST BONUS CARDS
And finally...don't be downhearted during Phase 2 if you roll a number number of a Cereal Monster Card you cannot match because it's not in your shelf or has already been killed , it may not be the end of your turn !!
10--1 Free Roll
7-- 2 Free Rolls
3-- 3 Free Rolls
HOW PHASE ONE PLAYS :
Each Player will always have 6 Cards in their hand until they have seven cereals played into their shelf and are ready to start Phase two's dice rolling. On each turn a player may :
1--play a cereal card onto their shelf
2- play a special card
3- discard something from their hand and choose another card and end their turn
NOTES ON CARD PLAYING MECHANICS :
ON YOUR SHELF :
-- Once you decide to put a cereal monster card into your shelf, you cannot take it back, so choose wisely (Your placed shelf cards can only be affected by the special cards, you CANNOT decide to replace a Cereal card once it is shelved. ) .
-- Do you want to try to place on your shelf a lot of 7's because they are easier to kill by not have the chance to make as much money? Or do you want to go for some higher dollar ones and try to hit those snake eyes and boxcars? Or do you want to completely be the Top Cereal Killer and wait to place seven UNIQUE cereals with no repeaters? ( Kill all the cereals on this denomination of shelf successfully (( 7 UNIQUE cereals with no repeaters.. i.e. 2 3 4 7 9 10 11 , 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 etc.)) and you receive a $1000 Bonus added to your reward.
THE SHELF EFFECT CARDS :
-- If you get an UNBREAKABLE SHELF Card, you must play it if you choose in front of your shelf and it stays there for the remainder of the round. You cannot play it as a REMEDY to your opponent breaking your shelf with that card.
-- If you get a SHELF REPAIR card, you indeed may hold THIS card in your hand as a remedy to keep your shelf from breaking if it is attacked by a BROKEN SHELF card.
--- When any player plays the broken shelf card on his opponent, if his opponent holds a SHELF REPAIR card in their hand , the attacked player lays it down then both cards are discarded and the attacked player's shelf remains intact. Then the next TWO cards are turned face up from the pile and the attacked player who has saved his shelf gets to choose which card they want. Then the other card goes back in the discard pile and the unsuccessfully attacking player replenishes his hand with the top face down card from the pile as the unsuccessfully attacked player's turn resumes as normal.
-- THE SPILLED MILK UPHEAVAL CARDS ---
-- The only time these can be held in the hand for possible strategic usage later is ON THE INITIAL DEAL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE ROUND. If later in this discard-pick up process one of these cards is revealed, that player MUST show it face up immediately on their next turn and both players must follow the directions. However the player picking up the card should not REVEAL this fact until their opponent has taken their turn.
-- If the " Trade Most expensive for Most Expensive" or " Trade least for Least Expensive " cards come up when those amounts are the same in both player's shelves, nothing happens and turns progress as normal.
--A spilled Milk Upheaval card must still be followed even if one player is still in phase one (filling shelf ) and one player is in phase two ( rolling dice to Kill The Cereal cards),
THE LATE BREAKFAST BONUS CARDS (free rolls)
--You may play one of these in front of your shelf at anytime after receiving it. But once you play it, it is LOCKED. And you can only have ONE free roll card in play at any time. You cannot replace a 2 free roll card later with a 3 free roll card should you draw it, so choose wisely about when or if to play either the 1 free roll or 2 free roll card.
HOW PHASE TWO PLAYS :
--Once a player completes their shelf of 7 Cereal Monster cards, the player loudly screams "I WANT TO BE A CEREAL KILLER" and then begins their dice rolling . Each player rolls until he rolls a number he cannot match on the cards remaining on his shelf, and then the other player gets a chance to roll. ( Or the other player continues in Phase One drawing and playing cards if his shelf is not filled with 7 cards yet.)
---Players lose their turn when they roll a number not matching remaining on a card on their shelf. Unless they have a LATE BREAKFAST BONUS free ROLL card, then the player with that card --played earlier in Phase One-- gets to keep trying after the failed roll for the number of rolls on the card. If the player has a 2 or 3 free roll LATE BREAKFAST CARD , and DOES make a good roll to kill a card on the first free roll, the rolls stay intact, However.. the player must use them on all the same turn -
EXAMPLE :
Myrtle has a 4 7 9 and 10 card remaining on her shelf , she has a THREE FREE ROLLS card .. she rolls a 2. Then she takes her first free roll and rolls a 7. She then keeps rolling until she clears her shelf or runs out of the 2 remaining free rolls she gets after rolling a number she can't match. She cannot SAVE a PORTION of a card's amount of rolls and pass once she elects to indeed use the free roll card. If she clears her shelf before using all her free rolls-- not only does she win the round she wins all the real life cereal from the shelf in the domicile where the game is being played. This is indeed an Easter Egg in this draft of the rules to see that the reader paying attention before providing feedback. :D
-- This having to take all of your multiple rolls in one turn is important in that a player who has a LATE BREAKFAST free roll card played in front of their shelf can elect to PASS at their roll of an unmatchable card number and save the rolls from the card for another turn.
END OF ROUND--SCORING
--- Once a player clears his shelf, and has killed all of the monster cereals by rolling all seven dice amounts from the cards in his shelf he shouts " I AM A CEREAL KILLER" and the round ends. He then receives the total of all the denominations on the seven cards he killed. (EXAMPLE : If he had 4 $500 2 $200 and 1 $50 -- he receives $2250 plus a $500 bonus for being the player who cleared their shelf first.)
--- The losing opponent of the round totals all of the cards that he matched and gets to keep 1/3 of that score.
-- Also,as stated earlier, any player one clearing a shelf of ENTIRELY unique Cereal Monster cards ( no repeating number/dollar values) gets another bonus of $1000.
SUPERCEREAL BONUS ROUND FOR THE WINNER
--- The winner of the round who cleared their shelf then plays the SuperCereal CLEAN UP THE OPPONENT'S MESS BONUS ROUND on the remaining cards left in his opponent's shelf that he didn't match. The winner then rolls one time to try to match any of the remaining cereal cards on the opponent's shelf, if he matches one of these, he receives TWICE the card's amount. If he doesn't match on the first roll his total score stays the same with no penalty. However if he MAKES a Monster Cereal Match he has a decision to make.
-- If there is more than one card left on the opponent's board he can try to go for more, BUT if he rolls and fails to match he loses HALF of his entire score's total and the bonus round ends. ( EXAMPLE : Billy Bob won $2250 from his completed shelf, and Myrtle had 3 7s and a 12 left on her shelf. He rolls one 7 on his first roll, giving him $100 (( $50 x2)). he can stop now with his $2350 total or try for that big $1000--the 12 card's $500 X 2 . If he doesn't get it his total goes down to $1175. If he manages to CLEAR the other player's shelf without an unmatchable roll he receives another $1000 bonus.
END OF GAME
-- Rounds continue until someone reaches $5000 and they are declared the winner and the Supreme Killer of Salacious Cereal and Savior of Breakfast !!!! Then the winner takes the box of cereal that comes with the game and pours it on the head of the loser. ( Yes,I am seeing again if you are paying attention,)
( SCORING NOTE:: In case of a scenario where one player reaches $5000 first by LOSING ( Non-Shelf clearing score) the round game extends to $7500 and so on by increments of $2500 until the winner has reached that total BY CLEARING THEIR SHELF AND WINNING THE ROUND. . A player cannot win the entire game as loser of the final round. --- EXAMPLE.. Myrtle had $4800 , Shirley had $4275... Shirley completes a $1000 Shelf and wins no SUPERCEREAL CLEAN UP THE OPPONENT'S MESS bonus money for a total of $5275 -- but Myrtle had knocked off $1000 of Cereal Monsters, and the $500 she gets as the losing player puts her at $5300. This is a scenario where the game continues to $7500 because the winner CANNOT be the player who doesn't clear his shelf in the final round. )
As someone who just on a total recent lark after a lifetime of playing games and card games to become a designer, your words are so appreciated--- thank you !!!
And yes.. this is why we need feedback and more eyes !!! OOPS.. thanks for catching that typo... one of the free roll cards is indeed supposed to be MOST for MOST...changing that here in a jiffy. !! :)
And yes.. the spilled milk cards are designed to throw some unexpectedness into the " card drafting" ( Building your shelf ) strategies. Instead of just draft, then you draft, then I draft-- this possible sort of monotony in that sequence has an extra level of chance with the spilled milk cards indeed upending one's planned strategy of what values to put in your shelf.
Thank you SO SO much again, if you might be so kind, love to hear what you think of my other games I post-- the bathroom game which I just posted and the other's that are coming!!
