Hey,
With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Evolution coming out, I think it would be cool to design a board game in the Jurassic Park universe, that would be like Evolution but less complex.
Any idea how this could be done? I was thinking a hex grid board with hex overlays and wall pieces that could be placed on the edges between hexes.
Does anyone know of any board games that have done a similar build-your-own-park style with modular pieces (and possibly a threat to human life)?
Jurassic Park Management Game?
This sounds somewhat similar to Dinosaur Island and Deulasour Island. (Though I have only seen all three games and not played them)
Knowing one of the designers, they did not even attempt to get a Jurassic Park IP licence as that would have gutted the game and a lot of it's fun.
But yeah, Dinosaur Island is very much a Jurassic Park-esque worker placement/management as it "should" be, complete with guests being eaten .. and yet more keep coming, and a LOT of great puns thrown in ("Clever Grill" for example).
They just finished their 2nd Kickstarter for it. MASSIVELY successful ($2.4 million I believe?).
I kind of want to get this game now...
$500,000 the first time around (last year) and $2,045,000 this time around (just ended a couple weeks ago).
It's a great game! And the expansion that was released with the 2nd Kickstarter makes it even better!
Wow! Okay, that is actually pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I haven't looked in huge depth at the rules for Dinosaur Island, but it would appear to be exactly what I was looking for, and some reviews I read seem to be saying that it is a very good game in addition to a blatant ripoff of sorts of Jurassic Park.
