Hi, Everyone!

Someone suggested that I should pass this along the New Game Ideas section of the forum so here I am (I know I PMed some of you about this). Anyway, I'm presently working on a new party game idea called "Add 'Em Up" and I'm looking for a second pair of eyes to look over the rule sheet. I know most of you aren't fans of party games, but if you don't mind humoring me for a bit here, give it a look & ask yourself...

* Are the rules easy to understand?

* Is there anything you find unclear or confusing? Too wordy?

* Any grammatical errors that need fixing?

* What do you think of the game as a whole? Any suggestions on making it better?

A Word doc. should be attached that contains the rough draft. So if you have a spare moment, please check it out and give me your feedback. Thank you for your time.

Can anyone have a look???

I don't like doing manual/rulebook reviews because usually I'd get stuck up on the format.

Anyone good with rulebooks can please have a look at it???

(Assuming that those members are still part of the community...)

Would hate to see a fellow designer looking for feedback and nobody is sufficiently interested to take a 2nd look...

Include the board with score track

Do you have an image of the board that includes the scoring track, where the pawns are moved? Also, I wasn't clear about where the emcee writes the words - does the actual board have blank spaces where your text shows the top, bottom, & other labels? Is this a dry erase board?

I've never seen emcee written out that way, but is that the norm now? Ive seen MC (master of ceremonies)...

The wording at the beginning for the Object of the game is a bit awkward. Maybe "Sum up the missing links to some wild word puzzles and score points for your team. Win a round by being the first team to score 14 points!"

Why 14 points, by the way?

The only grammatical thing I noticed was on the symbols explanation at the end - should read "if AN add card..."

Sounds like a fun party game!

Currently reviewing rules

Kris,

The designer reached out to me and I'm reviewing the rules for clarity and remaining concise.

Cheers,
Joe

To answer your questions, Mokheshur...

Thanks for taking time out to look over my rule sheet, Mokheshur. Below is a link where you can download a PDF file that contains photos of what I have in mind for the scoring track and actual board to look like.

https://www.sendspace.com/file/c2uqjc

You'll notice that the actual board does have blank spaces, labeled directions (which I have to fix) and so forth. I plan to make it a dry erase/laminate type board, yes. As for emcee/MC, I believe both spellings are acceptable.

Why 14 Points? It was originally 12, but some games ended too quickly. So I thought a slight extension might help ease that. It's also why I made it a "best of three" match.

Glad you liked the concept and I hope this answers your questions. If you have any others, don't be shy to ask!

Thank you, Joe!

Joe, if you're reading this, I look forward to reading your feedback soon.

If anyone else is reading this, I'm still looking for people to help look over my rulebook. Assessments give me assessments!

I haven't seen the PDF yet

I haven't seen the PDF yet (don't have an account there) but thanks for answering - those were the questions that I was left with from the original info & glad you have it clarified in the other graphics.

I asked about the 14 points just because it seems kind of arbitrary - people get used to numbers in multiples of threes, fives, or tens, so 14 sort of stands out. What about winning at 15 points? Not really that important, just one of those little details.

My thought exactly!

That's EXACTLY what I thought when I read this thread: why not 15 points!

15 sounds way better than 14?! Why exactly would you choose 14? 10 points is 2/3 15 points, so it's a 1/3 more. 10 compare to 14 ... is not normalized.
