Hello everybody!
This is my first post here! Thanks for letting me join!
Anyway onto why I am here, there is a reason and that reason would be to get me out of my slump and get me to work on my card game ideas some more! I have two Ideas that I would love to get going, one is further along than the other, this post is about that one, I'll get a bit further on my own hopefully on my second idea
If any of you know what cosplaying is then great! That is what my first CCG game is all about! For those of you who don't know cosplaying is dressing up in a costume to represent a character! (Spider man, Sailor moon, Batman, Goku).
Story: You are a cosplaying group trying to win the coveted award of best group cosplay!
Goal: You are trying to win 30 points from "The Judges" you do this by "Modeling" your cosplayers and get X amount of points
There are 3 types of cards
Cosplayer Cards
Item Cards
Ability Cards
There are 3 main parts to the "Stage"
-The Runway
-The Backstage
-Ability Area
Cosplayer Cards have Charisma (Attak) and Heart (Health)
Item cards can be attacked to cosplayers
Ability cards can be used on any cosplayer and can be played anytime as long as it is in the ability area (can't play it out of your hand)
Battle:
like WoW,
-Two cards oppose and damage is calculated
- If attackers charisma is higher than defenders heart the card is defeated
- If attackers charisma is lower than defenders heart that much heart is taken off
- Card is defeated when it has no more heart
Rules so far:
-40 card minimum hand
- You can only have 3 cosplayers on the runway at any given time, one "spotlighted" and two "readied"
- You can have 3 additional cosplayers waiting in the Backstage that can be switched out with the ones onstage under given circumstances (one of your cosplayers loses, you switch them out using a card)
- You have an ability area where you can play cards to boost your characters
Ex. 1 - "Super Cute Face - Cosplayers Charisma increases by 1"
Ex. 2 - "Search the Vendors - Draw 2 cards"
That is what I have and I'm stuck having a hard time decided what route I want to go. I am trying to determine the best way to "summon" the cards. I could use a system like WoW and the ability cards act as resources and you pay a certain amount to activate them as well.
I also thought maybe I have a set amount of points and I have to pay that amount in order to "summon" my cosplayer.
I also have the idea that you have "Cloth" and each character requires a certain amount of cloth attached in order to have a "complete costume" to go out on the runway
Also I need to determine how you get points from the judges, I was thinking take the amount of points from the judges that is equal to the opposing cosplayers heart amount, when they are defeated.
Any ideas are welcome and greatly appreciated.
Yes each opponent would have one runway and it would allow for one-on-one battles and more! It would even allow for teams if need be. And I do mean for it to be funny.
I would probably do the deck and have them draw crads like any other TCG, I like the idea of the costume closet as a resource manager, you have to send the cosplayer to the closet to get the material needed in order to go on stage.
I was just thinking..Instead of having cards like "Cosplayer Ash" and "Cosplayer Spider-Man" why not have it "Joe Blow" and "Jane Smith" and you attach a cosplay to them and each cosplay has a move set or something.
The "Runway Moves" could be like the attack part of Pokemon each card has its own move that can get you "X" amount of style points and at the end of that round whoever has the most style points wins X amount of judge points.
I believe I have thought up of enough cards to start playtesting if I wanted to unelss I change it so that you start with "Joe Blow" and "Jane Smith" then I need to rework some cards and rethink it a bit.
-----EDIT-----
I think I found the route that I want to take, I can explain it when it is in front of me but writing it down to rules is hard anyway I will try to do so and I have the rulebook I'm working on so far posted on google docs
