Yet another filler game that wouldn't work with the submission guidelines. I believe this may be a revolutionary dice mechanic; it's either that or I am ignorant of its inventor. Comments, please.

Majority Rules!

Players: 2-4

Time: 10 minutes

Components:
33 Dice
- 8 blue
- 8 red
- 8 yellow
- 8 green
- 1 gold
- 2 dividers

(A divider is a sheet of postercard with a slit in it. The two together would form a big plus sign. Each player will use one of the four sections made by the postercard as their play area)

Object of the game: The object of the game is to be the first player to 500 points.

Setup: Construct the divider and distribute one of the colored sets of dice to each player. The gold die is set aside.

How to Play:

Roll the dice into your section of the divider so that nobody can see what you rolled. You may choose to keep any number of these dice. Two rerolls are given to each player. After these three rolls have been made, the divider is set aside, the gold die is rolled, and everyone's dice are revealed.

The player with the most of a number claims all dice of that number. If there is a tie for a certain number, no claiming is made.

For example, if Steve has five 3s, Susan has two, and Rob has four, then Steve claims all of Susan's and Rob's 3s. However, if Jackie also has five 3s, then Rob and Susan keep their 3s because Steve and Jackie are tied.

Once dice have been claimed, players score the face value of all of the dice that were not taken from them, plus those they claimed. Whatever number the gold die is showing, however, is worth 6 points each instead of face value. For example, if Susan rolled three 4s, a 5, and four 6s when the gold die was rolled as a 4, she would score 47 points instead of the normal 41 points. This allows for low numbers to be useful.

Once scores are tallied for a round, each player regains control of all dice of their chosen color. The above process repeats until one player's score goes over 500. If two players go over 500 in the same round, the player who has the higher score is the winner. If both players have the same score, the player who scored more points that round is the winner.

There's not a lot of strategy

There's not a lot of strategy to it (aside from judicious use of your re rolls) - but it looks like it works well, is simple to understand.

I'm assuming the dice are D6s? This isn't stated. Also - i'm dubious as to how effective the divider can be without being enormous. This isn't necessarily a problem - just might not be picturing it right.

For a slight twist to the game when you're testing - keep the "golden die = 6 points" rule - but change all the dice out to D8s - it will mean the golden die can nerf someone with a huge score, or bring a lower number up to above average. It will also change the dynamic of how many people can get the most points (and reduce ties). I'm not saying it's better - just something I would try if I came up with this game to mess around with the mechanics.

Neat idea!!

Having the golden die be a

Having the golden die be a way to increase the low value of numbers is just another random element, and doesn't guarantee help of any sort.

You could instead make the die faces into colors, and then have each color have it's value changed in relation to how many of that color are kept by everyone. For example, if there are 12 total red faces kept, 9 blue, 5 green, 3 yellow, 2 white 1 black, then maybe the values would be like:

Red = 1
Blue = 2
Green = 3
Yellow = 4
White = 5
Black = 6

So in reality, you're trying to keep the highest number of the 2nd or 3rd best. There still isn't much strategy to this format, since you don't know what everyone else is keeping, but it would level out the scores a bit more.

The screen concept is neat though, easy to make and should be functional. There is always the though of hidden dice rolls = ability to cheat, however.

So the game is totaly random

So the game is totaly random exept the players can choose to re-roll dice twice... And higher numbers are onley beter... I se what you are trying to do with the golden dice, but to me it just sound like "hey want to se who hase the most luck today"...

But there is probobly people who like this type of games. Me personaly, it is not my cop of tee.

You might want to cnage the X to 4 player screens instead. Roling on youre side of the x without any one seeing is kind of hard. Unless it is a realy big x. So I think going with player screens instead would be better.

I like the color idea betetr

I like the color idea betetr then the number one... Also you can ad scoring cards to the colors. Each player hav diffrent scors for eac collor. That way you can try and figur out what color another player wants and try and deni them from geting it, or trying to take it from them... It gives you a litle more strategy to the game.
