Yet another filler game that wouldn't work with the submission guidelines. I believe this may be a revolutionary dice mechanic; it's either that or I am ignorant of its inventor. Comments, please.
Majority Rules!
Players: 2-4
Time: 10 minutes
Components:
33 Dice
- 8 blue
- 8 red
- 8 yellow
- 8 green
- 1 gold
- 2 dividers
(A divider is a sheet of postercard with a slit in it. The two together would form a big plus sign. Each player will use one of the four sections made by the postercard as their play area)
Object of the game: The object of the game is to be the first player to 500 points.
Setup: Construct the divider and distribute one of the colored sets of dice to each player. The gold die is set aside.
How to Play:
Roll the dice into your section of the divider so that nobody can see what you rolled. You may choose to keep any number of these dice. Two rerolls are given to each player. After these three rolls have been made, the divider is set aside, the gold die is rolled, and everyone's dice are revealed.
The player with the most of a number claims all dice of that number. If there is a tie for a certain number, no claiming is made.
For example, if Steve has five 3s, Susan has two, and Rob has four, then Steve claims all of Susan's and Rob's 3s. However, if Jackie also has five 3s, then Rob and Susan keep their 3s because Steve and Jackie are tied.
Once dice have been claimed, players score the face value of all of the dice that were not taken from them, plus those they claimed. Whatever number the gold die is showing, however, is worth 6 points each instead of face value. For example, if Susan rolled three 4s, a 5, and four 6s when the gold die was rolled as a 4, she would score 47 points instead of the normal 41 points. This allows for low numbers to be useful.
Once scores are tallied for a round, each player regains control of all dice of their chosen color. The above process repeats until one player's score goes over 500. If two players go over 500 in the same round, the player who has the higher score is the winner. If both players have the same score, the player who scored more points that round is the winner.
