Hello everyone! I'd like to get the communities' input on an idea i have called Meta Game Domination. This will be a freely distributed "system" that i'd like to create and share with the public. But i'd like to get everyone's input to see if its even worth doing and to get your ideas to make it the best it can be.
The basic idea of Meta Game Domination is to have a map separated into territories. A group of players would get together as they normally would on their game night, but as they win or lose their various games, they also gain or lose territories on the map. The goal would be to conquer the entire map, then move on to other maps. Players could gain certain advantages within the games for having a majority of territories conquered. This would be decided by the group or we could have a wiki setup for everyone to share what their game group has come up with. This doesn't have to be limited to just tabletop games, it can be used for video games too. There will be various maps of different sizes to accommodate different size groups and/or different lengths of tracking. For instance the large map probably won't be conquered during one game session, the state of it will carry over for other game sessions. This could also be used for tournaments to give it a bit of flavor. I've attached an example of a map; the look is subject to change.
So, do you think this is worth doing? Any ideas on improving upon this? I'm not set on the name, so I welcome any ideas on that front. Anyone interested in being part of its creation? I could use artists and graphic designers on board for it. It won't be a paid gig but it'll be a chance to get some exposure.
Though this will be free to download and free to use, this will be published under the Nightstalker Games label and will have a creative commons license with required attribution to Nightstalker Games. www.nightstalkergames.com
Each game group can come up with their own bonuses for the games they play, my hope is that they would share what bonuses they've come up with so others can do it too. The bonuses don't have to be used at all, gaining territories could just be worth bragging rights or there is a prize at the end for the player who conquers the map. I had a group that used a small map and we played wrestling video games, the player that had the majority of territories held on to the championship belt we had. It was a fun way to determine the current champion and it gave the rest even more of an incentive to beat him.
