We are currently looking to revise the latest version of "Rain of Fire". More info can be found at: http://www.cardgameforge.com/games/rain_of_fire
Right now, we are just discussing the game. The Rules section is outdated. We had planned to use a set of mechanics and we abandoned them because it just was not coming together right. Don't get me wrong, the simplicity of the design is somewhat useful as a format, however we felt that hardcore gamers would not be pleased with the product.
So we are now working on a version 3.0. This is something new and involves suits, set collection, hand management and of course bluffing.
The last part of previous versions is still a priority in term of the design. It is still one of the product highlights we want to focus on.
However I still believe that at the moment the theme is too MtG-ish... I am not fully aware about that product - just theme-wise it is. I am thinking about another version with religious undertones, however my problem is that the subject matter is limited. Fantasy is more expansive. Also from the creative side of things, practical things do not make for very interesting subject matter. For example: Lava Rock. It might very well be a realistic component, however it is not the most exciting thing... :)
I have added some concept artwork for this version. I did not want to upload the image to the BGDF forums because it's just a quick sketch. For those interested in seeing how our concept artwork might mesh with the game itself, feel free to visit the CGF website.
I pretty much have a good vision of what I want in this case - but I will not workout the concept unless I discuss it further and at the appropriate time. Since this is the 3rd version of the product, it is taking time to put together something that hardcore players will enjoy.
I may revisit some of the other game mechanics that I unsed in earlier versions. That is still to be seen...
