Wrestling Game Idea...a different approach.

I have an idea for a wrestling game let me know what you guys think (sorry, just thought about it on the way home and I need to get it off my chest):

It's a dice rolling game where you're competing not just as wrestlers in a ring, but as factions in a wrestling promotion (one side is heel v one side being the face). Basically you're trying to put a great show while trying to get the favor of the audience (which is essentially what wrestling promotions do)

There's several things going on (this is still raw). Each side has a small roster of wrestlers on their side. Each (standard) wrestler is 3D6 (dice), while bigger wrestlers are 4D6, cruiserweight and women are 2D6. Players will also have a hand of "modifier" cards that they draw from a central deck. There will also be a stipulation deck to determine the type of match.

A "show" consists of 10 matches.

Random player will start for the first match. They will "come out" (choose a wrestler) at the beginning of the "show" and present the challenge. The opponent will offer up a wrestler, and a stipulation will be revealed. Then both will "wrestle". Wrestling consists of rolling their dice. The wrestler with the highest roll wins the match, but the closer the values are, the more the audience has "favor" (i.e. it was a close match). A "squash" match (where values are far apart) may not get a high favor of the audience. Certain characters will have certain abilities (a more technical wrestler may be able to re-roll dice while a stronger wrestler may be able to change a result of a die down a notch) and modifier cards from your hand can be played to change the result. A faction or a valet may contribute 1 or more die to the overall result (i.e. interfering). The closer the value totals are, the more modifier cards are available for each faction between rounds (as spelled out by the stipulation card). When a wrestler is used, they cannot be used for the rest of the show and the main event (last match) should be the best match. Favor is a meter that accumulates from matches...the better the match, the higher the favor. The goal is to reach a certain favor level or both players lose, so it's a semi-cooperative competitive game.

Modifier cards can do a lot. They can "turn" a character, modify the result, add props, bring in wrestlers that were played earlier, and even "call out" a certain wrestler.

Some thought was given to a "season" (where players keep their group of wrestlers throughout subsequent shows). A roll of all 1's during a match would result in a wrestler being "injured" and is out for the season (or a certain amount of shows). Maybe make a stamina meter that removes 1 every match they are in and recover 1 every time they are not used in a show. Essentially this can possibly make an ongoing, progressive game, a la Pathfinder Adventure Card Game.

Like I said, it's very raw right now, but I've been trying to make a wrestling game of some sort that's not like the other wrestling games out there and I think I got a breakthrough.
Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Criticisms? Let me know what you all think!

I like the premise

A fellow Aussie designer Kickstarted a wrestling game not too long ago. We spoke about a Pocket Sports wrestling version/ hybrid thingy....but nothing ever got off the ground.

If you want someone else to co-design with you.....I love me some dice sports & cards :) I've certainly got the right channels for production!

I've got a really good set of people and connections here...I teach game theory so I got testers. I worked at a board game studio before, so I got some direction, and I'm real close to places like AEG and Cryptozoic, so I've got people with a good eye.

I'll have to flesh this concept out a bit more. I'm just doing dice testing with a few enhancement cards just to see if it's viable.

I'm definitely keeping you in mind though. Thanks!

Ha yeah. I was driving home listening to Dice Tower on dice games and I was inspired.

I have had this idea of doing a wrestling game, but all I got was the idea of using dice as a probability thing representing wrestlers, using a roll of all 1s be an "injury", more dice = bigger wrestlers, doing a wrestling game from a booing standpoint rather than actual in-ring actions, and the fact that wrestlers put on a "show" that would add to the success of the company.

There were holes in my design so I kinda kept it in the back of my mind for a while (I've been trying to think up things for a couple of years now on this), then when I was driving home, it just all clicked.

When I got home, I just had to write it down somewhere.
