Anyone out there in Southern California (I am in San Diego) and since I am fairly new to the area I don't have the same gaming connections for play-testing that I did back east. I haven't been able to find any events out this way for gaming and play-testing, and although I love going to GenCon I would also love to have a more local, more frequent opportunity to connect with other designers for play-testing purposes. Let me know if you are in the area and perhaps I can arrange a group meeting/play-testing event if there are enough people.
Southern California
But if I can find TWO (2) people to playtest my game - that's a playtest session! :)
So I don't think you really need *many* people to hold a group meeting, just two (2) people would be enough reason to warrant a meeting.
I know of larger groups (not in your area) who get together and that is great. Except the most players that can play my game is four (4)... So having four (4) players at a meeting would be *GLORIOUS*...! I hope I can achieve this in *blind* playtesting.
Welcome to the on-line BGDF community!
Well I live in riverside, so I am not extremely close, but I do live relatively. I am not an experienced game designer though, and I am just starting to work on my first board game. But I am sure there are people close to you willing to play you just have to really ask around. (even if they are not game designers.)
I'm in Orange County. Specifically Fountain Valley.
I work at Victory Point Games, which is in Costa Mesa, and we open our doors for playtesting every Saturday. There are also several meetup groups that you can likely tap into.
So I am also seeking fresh perspectives for the game I am creating. With me being relatively close to your area, I would be happy to get together some time and share some thoughts on the games we are working on. There are plenty of places we can go, or even meeting at someone's house is a viable option, unless someone is worried about unfamiliar people coming over for a visit. I am assuming any and every one is welcome, who is in the same mind frame and willing to make the drive. A central location would probably be best or even switching up locations to make it fair for driving would be ok as well. Let me know what your thoughts are on this.
Xx
I have made a few designer connections here and hope to arrange some form of designer meet-up soon. LA/Orange County folks are definitely welcome if you are willing to drive a bit. I'll post details when it gets sorted. It will likely not happen till February do to upcoming travel plans.
Also thanks Despot9 for the info on Victory Point Games, I will definitely keep the Saturday playtesting on the radar.
