I am not sure if this a right area (move if you like) to ask feedback from rules.

I have been working on with a board game for sometime and now we have draft version (without any layout) ready. Rulebook is not edited yet.

I would like ask your opinion from the content.

Are there some unclear rules?

Should I add more explanation into some places?

Should I shorten text somehow?

Generally that kind of feedback. We will make layout during this summer and then I will more your opinion.

From a quick read...

Some quick thoughts
- Cool story and premise, but too long for the beginning of the rulebook. I’d have a designated place where story elements are separate from rules.
- You need some more introductory material at the beginning – it doesn’t tell us anything about what gameplay will be like or what our main goals are. A nice summary here would be helpful.
- It would also be helpful to know the end goal up front, rather than on page 19. Basically, more overview before you get into specifics would help.

Have you play-tested this yet? I can say the best way to shake the dust off your rules is to playtest. Then, give the rules to someone else who hasn't tried the game yet and see if they can play it.

I'd also take a look at another rulebook that meets two criteria:
1 - it's in the genre this game is in. (Is this a multi-session questing game like DESCENT?)
2 - you think it's a good and easy rulebook to use.

-It is good to hear that you

-It is good to hear that you like from story, you like from the game world too

- I will add more introductory material and of course all game piece explanations will be added when we have a layout ready.

-I will see if I can find place for that story...maybe end of the rulebook.

We have playtested game quite bit and at coming weekend we have longer test sessions where we tweak mission difficulty ratings to be little bit easier and player friendly :)

1. Game is a little bit like Runebound meets Descent. You add flexible character generation and development over the mission chain.
There are few random one shot mission in the game and then story (chain of missions) with predetermined map.
