Board Design

I had an idea this morn. Let me start with I've been a draftsman/designer for the last 15 yrs., starting with AutoCAD 12, to now using AutoCAD Architecture 2001 (for house plans-in last job, architectural/piping/civil/mechanical/structural steel etc.) Currently using ACAD Arch.2009 @ home.
In drafting the game board would be a pattern/developement.

Would anyone pay for customized board design? Per customer specifications? Just a thought. Maybe some designers, might not want to mess with the board design.

Anyway, just one of my million ideas. Maybe my own designs that customers can choose from?

I have some ideas about designing by genre?

Oops

I meant AutoCAD Arch. 2011, not 2001.

Production

Publishers frequently need people to help them produce artwork and layout for gameboards. These may involve elements of architectural design which overlap with your skills. But, it would most likely be contract work on a game by game basis (depending upon the need). I do not know how much your particular experience applies to their needs, but you can submit your name & portfolio to them.

However, most designers will likely handle the production of the gameboard prototype themselves. Until they know exactly what works well with the design, it is oftentimes a waste of time and money to get professional graphic artists involved.

Some questions

Are you talking about offering you services to create boards that go along with designs others have created?

Or perhaps specialized boards that enhance games that are already popular?

I'd like to see a picture of what you have in mind uploaded here to get a better idea of what you are offering.

Boards that fit design spec.s?

A prospective game designer needs a generic/or custom (per designer spec.s) board for their game. I'm just throwing ideas out, seeing if I get a bite. I hope that answers the question.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance. I have sooooo much more to learn. :)

This is probably a dead end road, because if your like me, designing the board is part of the fun~!
